Snow tires are all you need to keep you on the road in normal winter driving conditions. But when you are at risk of getting stuck or plowing through a metre of snow the AWD is really nice to have.

But I'm just speaking with 36 years of driving in ice and snow so what do I know.

the better in snow argument is the stupidest argument ever. anything with snow tires will perform well in snow. clearance is the only thing that makes it better. AWD maybe a bit.

It's obviously not an official M model but for those that don't care about such labels, a powerful RWD vehicle, with the right Limited Slip Differential can satisfied your every performance need.

Me personally, I'm the humble type; I honestly don't mind if it's not an M car, as long as it has the chops to get the job done.

I already have a big M badge, in the center of my M underwear, that's more than enough.

Any M Performance car is still a pig with lipstick... nice lipstick, but still a pig nonetheless.

No, because of trying to be what's not!

Those M Performance cars are not designed and built by BMW M Division like the real M cars.

The M340i is not trying to be an M.
It is doing the marketing thing that works for others (Merc, Lexus, Audi...) and like tennis racket companies with paintjobs (attaching a label "Endorsed by a certain pro" (in this case bits and pieces by M Division), they make people believe it is an "M lite"

For many people, the "M lites" are actually better cars. Easier to live with on a daily basis, more comfortable... etc. All this talk about real and fake M cars is funny to me. the only "real" M cars on sale now for me are the M2 & M4.

No doubt about that!
As I said (a few dozen pages ago ) it was my dream and I fulfilled it, however, due to heavy travel schedule, I am unable to use the M the way I intended to and will not be getting another one at the end of my lease, no matter how impressive the vehicle is and no matter how different it is from the F30/G20 platforms.

If everyone just concedes that the G20 330i with its’ ‘light’ weight, 4 cylinder, with all available M add-ons, is the current closest to what an original M3 was / should be (e30 M3), then I think we can move on

Nah dude.

The BMW 230i is the closest. 2-door and small with a 4-banger that can be connected to the rear wheels via a manual transmission.

G20 3-series has a wheelbase an inch longer than the 7 series had when the E30 was in production. Granted, if you ordered the 7-series with the biggest/heaviest engine, it was almost as heavy as the G20.

The 230i is too big as well, but it is very similar in power and size to the E36 M3.

I'm sorry, you lost me a bit with that last sentence.. are you saying that one of the reasons M340i is close to/even with M2C and F80/82 is due to BMW programming burbles in each of their DME files?
No I'm saying the performance, feel and sound of a M340i is marginally close to a "real M" as in those two.
I'm betting that margin will be quite wide in comparison to the G80 when it arrives. Maybe then the chest thumping can subside when you have a current-gen variant to compare your super car to.
M shrine boys foaming at mouth waiting for their "bespoke" G80 M3 to come out to save grace, even though they won't won't like the front end as long as the ass end has an M (and the registration) that's all that "M"atters.
Just pointing this out but out of this thread, you seem the most insecure. I'm guessing you picked up a 340i.

BMW has been diluting the M for years.

I conceed. All BMWs are exactly the same. They just slap a different badge on the back.

However, when we race I will take the M3. You can pick any other 3 series you want since it is basically the same set of parts.
Sure take the E92 M3, I'll take the M340i and smoke you.
Wait until the first turn you will lose lmao

Regarding dropping "performance" from the name, I always called the m340i an "M340i"
Has anyone called it an "mperformance340i" before because I don't think we ever did but who cares. Everyone's still gonna know it doesn't have bespoke parts.
Lmao how do you figure that out smart guy? Go sit down. The E92 oem sways are 26.5" and 22" are shit, the Sach struts are average compared to. Do you know what struts and sways the M340i have cause I don't? Another /// clown speaking out of his a$$.

Both the e92 M3 and the lesser M240i did the Hockenheim short in practically the same time.
I'll just do circles around you lmao
Don't be so sour, it doesn't do you any good. I'm not an /// guy I recognize the mperformance cars are pretty good but let's be real here lol. Have you taken your m340i and been on track?

My moms x4m40i is pretty fast lol
