@Robin_NL S55 is much more tunable no question about it. But there is a point you'd think it's too much power for F platform. I think it's somewhere around 450whp, which is within the reach of N55 on pump gas.

There're a lot of M3/4 guys in my area, 500 S55s ballpark. Me myself included. I drive and tune M4 all the time since early 2015. I flashed much much more STG1 M4 than STG2. Why? Too much damn power. S55 buddies are getting sick of power, which is way way more than the platform can handle. That's seriously annoying power.

Power isn't an issue for F platform, other stuffs are.

You can call BS all you want. I was there at Dominion Raceway when it occurred and when the dealer diagnosed and repaired the issue. Saw this happen twice...two separate cars. Never had an issue with my OG M2 but I never really drove her too hard at the track being aware of the rotor issue.

Sounds like pad deposits on the rotor which is 90% of the time mid-diagnosed as warped rotors.

Yep, it's almost impossible to warp a modern rotor. When the deposits are smeared all over the rotors BMW replaces everything.

How do you get the deposits off? I got a light vibration in the steering wheel when braking.

Strangely the Dutch reviewers on Ascari found the M2C easier driftable/managable because of the re-adjusted MDM electronics vs M2.
And a more planted frontend plus a bit more power.

Did the OP drive with all nannies on/MDM/off?

I chose M2c because of S55 engine(trackdays, driftdays, Nordschleife) and its better cooling capabilities, and 'motorsport' internals.

Cheers
Robin
and as usual an M2C owner is quick to point out that the review is negative due to the reviewer being an M2 owner.. of course.

picked up my m2c yesterday.
I had a 2016 m2 for more than 2 years

initial impression
the og m2 pulls harder from lower RPM.. simply the torque are delivered lower down

m2c is a lot louder than og m2

handling they feel about the same except the front end feels a bit more tight

unrequested opinion here. local dealer had a m2C show up in HS. I went to see it in person. They also have a MG '18 M2. I'll be damned if I left thinking if I was going to buy, right now, I'd take the MG M2 and the savings based on the idea I'm more likely to get a deal on the older model. Plus, I was shocked how much HS waters down the aggressive look of the car, or is it those wheels? Not sure, but my first m2c introduction was not what I was hoping for.

Just like the Alpine White hides some of the beautiful shape of the M2, I think your right about the wheels, the concave offset of the original accentuate the aggressive look of the car.

So worth it for 10-20k more or no? I'm not surprised to hear that the OG M2 pulls harder from low RPM (under 3.5k). I feel my M2 does also compared to my F80 M3.

My first and only M2C spotting so far was in HS as well and I had the exact same reaction. Horrible color, no idea why it's seemingly the most popular choice.

Do you think it's throttle mapping? When I drove M4 and M2 back to back in Spartanburg I thought sport and sport plus throttle settings were way more aggressive in the M2. Maybe it is the engine though, hard to say.

Well covered in the M2C forum. Similar to M3/4 changes. Linear map to make the car less likely to suddenly kill you. Also proof pizza guy hasn’t driven it. But that’s another story.

From a marketing perspective, I wonder if the name is a big part of the popularity. Aside from silver being popular for most car brands, "Hockenheim" is very masculine, and German, and it sounds aggressive. We'll never know, but I bet the take rate would have been lower if they'd named it something like "Madrid Silver" or whatever. I chose LBB and dig it, but otherwise I think the M2 color palette is pretty bland. And absent a standout color, a standout color name may sway people. Yes, I'm off on a tangent, sorry OP. And no, I don't expect my color name theory to be well received!

“The harder hitting low end makes it less planted on corner exit not in a really fun way just a squirmy way, less manageable.”

Every single owner post (including many going from M2 to M2C) has commented on less low end torque. Except for guy one that seems to have read a few specs and formed an opinion based on that. Anyway...

I feel like the OG pulled hard from 2-3k rpm.......the M2C seems to come alive at 4-5k rpm. Not sure what that other guy is talking about. The M2C needs a tune.

I've owned an M4.

The S55 hits harder when the power does come on - at least the one I drove did exactly like my old M4 was.

Low end is in the 3500-4500RPM range - you should rarely be at 2000-3000RPM on a road course. Mid is 4500-5500 and Top is 5500-7+k in the n55 +500 for the S55

The S55 makes substantially more power and torque in the 3500-4500 range, right where you'll be at corner exit on a lower speed corner.
