Plenty of red M3s have been produced prior to E92.
Tons of them, in fact, so there is major historical precedent for a factory red M car.

There are several Imola Red, Ferrari Red or some other red M3/M4s leaving factory too. It doesn't mean anything though since all of them are coming thorugh individual program (aka $5K+ for a color). The same is true for the new M5 too. BMW still doesn't offer any decent red on their standard color palette.

Just don't do HS or white and you'll be fine. White is so played out and so is the new silver color which is basically white

The red M cars to which I was referring were not individual colors.
BMW has made lots of red production M cars cars. Just not lately (E46, I think, was the last).

Yeah, pretty sure BMW never made any production car in Ferrari Red.

Last standard red available on M car was Melbourne Red for E9x M3.

Only M vehicle right now with a true red is X5M and X6M, no actual M cars.

Do not understand why...it is strange.
