PS4S are fine near freezing for at least some period of time. The Cup 2s and Corvette C7 PSS crack and it is visible. I don't 100% agree with MPhatic that PS4S has a particular issue or that it's easily generalized. It really depends on the glass transition temperature of the compound and other factors. I would not drive on or store them for a prolonged period below freezing but I am certain there is a bit of margin in the warnings from vendors and manufacturers. In the end, if you can't see any damage and you can't feel any degradation then it's academic. I wouldn't drive through an entire Northeast winter with them on a car, but if you're caught out on a dry 30 F day a couple times I really doubt you're going to end up having to throw your tires away. Go near 0 F and maybe it's a different story.

The TPMS seems reasonable when the car has been sitting and compared to ambient.

So I suppose it's fine for most to drive standard Summer tires in near freezing temps, I'm just not built that way. Feel is everything to me. 100tw FTW! NT-01. by Andrew Thompson, on Flickr |

It's a shame they don't make these in a 285 or 295 18.
I'd like to get a set at some point. I've got two sets of wheels now. Eventually planning to cycle in a more tame tire for cooler months. I think I really need 3 sets. A big question would be if the nt01 heat cycles out if used as a daily summer tire. Seems better suited as track only. In my question for drivability I found this article. https://www.drivingline.com/articles...rd-mustang-gt/ |

Pulled this off the UK Michelin website. List 14 F as the temp to avoid storing/ use. 2 lines above mentions not storing below 32 as well. Personally below 50 F I start thinking about whether to bring out the cup 2's or not. If it is wet and below 50 not even a thought.

Made the switch yesterday from the original cup 2’s my CS delivered with to PS4S. (7,300 miles) For around town and highway driving, the ride quality is significantly better. Far fewer rocks and debris thrown into the wheel wells too. (New York)
I’m glad I got to experience the Cup 2’s on this beauty. They are just unreal on a warm summer day, how well they grip. I would definitely go back to those if circumstances changed in how and where I’ll drive. Was considering PS4S for winter (driving in 40F plus days) and Cup 2’s for summer. But after driving the PS4S, I’ll probably just make the PS4S my year round tire. I still would like a set of 763 Jet Blacks to switch up from the gold mattes every now and then. Maybe a set of winter tires once I source those. |

For sure it's not smart to drive track tires in cold+wet. Even if they wouldn't be damaged, there is just no performance there. |

They grew on me too and I ended up sticking with them. I like how they look dark in some lighting and light in others. I think the gloss finish reflects available light and lightens them up accordingly. I had Platinum finish on my FI-Rs on the F80 and loved that look.

My M2cs has cup2’s on it. I have never used a track tyre before. Super sticky in summer, very low grip on cold days… I have never driven it on a rainy day, but on these cold days, having low grip is sometimes very fun. I find myself drifting after I leave my son to school. (I know, you need to be very careful, sometimes it feels like I am driving on ice.)
I am planning/want to remap the car with mhd/bm3, use stock CS, GTS and ST1 maps, while deleting the opf’s (for a little extra exhaust note) 1) I should increase grip by using ps4s or pzero maybe (for cold and rainy days). Any suggestions in these two? (I wonder if the super sharp steering feel will decrease) 2) should I increase the width of the rears? 275.35.19 maybe? Leaving fronts original. |

Good feedback, please continue posting updates as you do more miles. The direct ‘seat of your pants’ comparison is invaluable, as this question will come up for all CS owners inevitably…

Wider tires do not give you more traction in a straight line, they are made for more cornering grip. If you want more traction in a straight line you first lower the pressure, then choose a sticker compound tire, and lastly widen the tire. |

Just switched from PSS* to Cup2 Connect*. First time with Cup2 for me. First impression are really good but I didn’t drive more than 20kms and it is still winter in my country. Tire noise is more significant as other people said (especially on autobahn).

Per ///MPhatic's recommendation, I bumped the size to 255/35 (F) and 275/35 (R), for some extra cushion and slightly more road contact. I'm very happy with this decision. The car rides/performs beautifully with this setup. That said, the increased diameter/width of the front tires did lead to some minor rubbing on the front section of the front fender liner. After inspecting, I discovered a small bulge in the fender liner on both the driver and passenger sides, which was causing the the outer edge of the tire to make minor contact, while at full lock. However, this took 10 minutes to fix. I simply heat up the bulged area of the liner with a heat gun and pressed it inward to be flush with the rest of the liner. Now my rubbing issues are resolved. Even after installing Ohlins and lowering the front ~12mm. With the PS4S's, I've also found myself much more willing to take the car out in the winter. At least when it's above 32F and the roads are dry. Which are typical winter conditions in CO.

First « serious » drive today with Cup2 was unexpectedly good considering the temperature (between 3C / 37F & 12C / 54F).
No traction problem & very progessive tire. Turn in is sharper than PSS btw.
