LOL thanks, my mom is still driving your old TSX.

I do however help with instructions during track events. So I've taught many drivers with the higher level techniques in shifting, heel/toe, double clutch (on older cars)... which your car doesn't require you to do.

I have nothing against manual, I enjoy driving them. Just don't make it sound like you are more skilled blah blah blah because you know how to press a clutch and shift up lol.

Good one! Yeah, and my TSX is a wagon to boot, feel like an old lady driving it, unless I use the paddle shifters.

I just figured out what DCT owners do with there left foot when driving....they stick it in there mouth!

Yes we do get bored waiting for you guys at the finish line.

BTW, out of curiosity... is this your first manual car? It sounds like you feel so special knowing how to drive one.

very ignorant comment. you still have to know how to drive MT to drive a MT M2. Manual transmission with auto rev match (which you can turn off BTW) is still far more engaging than a DCT which does not require any more skill to drive a Lexus.

Yep, dealer told me I was too old to learn how to drive the DCT.

Actually, let me see here....three early Saabs, two Supras, and a 535is worth noting. And too many motorcycles to count including three current riders.

No popcorn pulled out.

Transmission choice happens to be a polarizing topic on numerous car forums, with pros and cons for each transmission type and enthusiasts on either side.

As with so many things, it all comes down to personal preference. Let's respect each other's choices. The proof of the pudding is in the eating: drive both and let's talk again.

Most of all, let's appreciate that BMW offers us all a transmission choice for the M2. When we're old(er), very likely we will need to explain to the younger generation(s) that "back in the day" we still drove, ourselves, non-electric cars that had a clutch pedal or shift paddles.

BMW M boss Frank Van Meel considering the >50% take rate in the US for the M2 manual gearbox as "very important" and "strong demand" and "if that keeps up, I still see a future for the manual" (BMWBlog interview - September 2017: see 08:53-10:17):

I've had a shit ton of manual gearboxes over the years. Never had a transmission like what this DCT is purported to be... an offer I can't refuse. That's what I ordered. We'll see.

Can't believe I waded thru 19 pages of this bullshit. Forums draw out the most mature people - so much dick wagging over a fucking transmission.

Nah. The track comes down to driver, not transmission.

Wait until BMW drops the manual and the DCT and goes back to a straight-up automatic, like Audi did on some of its models for better launch, overall smoothness and power-handling capability. This thread will

In the future, Spock drives a DCT while McCoy prefers the Manual, and they argue to which one is better till the end of time.
