I am able to adjust all 3 modes independently -- I can go with sport+ for steering and throttle without MDM automatically engaging. I have to press DSC button to engage MDM.

About auto rev matching in the 6MT, the manual has this funny verbiage: "Depending on the engine installation, the engine speed during a shifting operation is adjusted automatically as required for harmonious and dynamic gear shifting." I don't see the manual explicitly stating how to turn it off, but BMW told me it's off when DSC is off. |

This is the most powerful car I've owned or even driven, so I'm still learning and getting used to it. I recently flashed my car to the CS map and I got a little swirly even with all the nannies on, so I've still got some ways to go before I even attempt MDM, let alone DSC off. Haha (For me, it's more about others on the road. Like, it's not fair for someone else to pay for my mistake.) |

For me: M1: Sport+ Engine / Sport Steering. M2: Sport+ Engine / MDM on / Sport Steering. To answer OP's question. I feel there is no need to turn off DSC on the street, unless one is very experienced with the car's behavior and wants to remove rev-matching. I rarely drive with DSC off other than sampling it a few times on a dry warm day. Even then I didn't push the car's limits. MDM is seldom used and only on a dry, warm day with warm tire temps. Last October someone of BMW high(er) management in Munich lost his life in an M2 Competition crash on a backroad on a cold morning. Went oversteer. Thread: here.
You got lots of power under the right foot - keep the brute force under control. Take care, friends.

Ok boyz and girlz, I've had DSC off for 3 days now (wow!) and love it (yikes!). This was around town, beltway, interstate and on-ramps only. Seems like a different car, in a very good way. For narrower boys roads and more "spirited" driving will definitely do MDM at minimum. Drove many high performance muscle cars in late 60's (Camaros, Chevelle's, Mustang's, Cougars) and all had polyester tires with no nannies, so danger was always lurking. I know, this car is a different beast, but oh my! -- the, handling, stability, stickiness, balance, etc, etc !! Enjoy!!!!!😎

Always have it off as it's what I am used to. Most of my cars in my life have been from the 80s so this traction control shit just confuses and scares me.
On the other hand - It startles me how fast cars are today and that anyone can just buy one and drive it with no real experience. I have a healthy respect and fear of my M2C and treat is as such. |

Y I could crash better than that with full traction on for sure! Turn it all off when you want to pay attention then you get the real car , not a soft, comfy polite one that treats you like a pretend race driver. |

I may be the oldest M2 driver in the country at 63 and I have to stifle a bit of a laugh since I drove for some 28 years without traction control and maybe 15 without antilock brakes. (And five without power brakes or steering!) Living in the north east no accidents or even scary moments.

I bet Paul Walker's family wished that Carrera GT had stability control..
Seriously guys, seeing someone die before your eyes in motor vehicle crash, grounds you. You really begin to realize how expendable life really is. Here now, five mins later - gone forever. On the public streets, I leave the traction control at least partially engaged, as a safety net and anally change my tires before it's anywhere close to the wear bars. I'm far from a Boy Scout, I just want to live another day to sue my insurance company for my negligence https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-cul...-not-a-defect/ |
