What's so special about the Japanese imported Supra? Why is that 4 seconds faster?

Bigger turbo or something. Basically like the many flashed 340is running around. I sort of get the impression the Toyota team is still new to suspension for these track/street cars where M is sort of specialized

~3550 lbs for the M2C vs ~3400 lbs in the Supra; S55 vs the B58

Wow. Impressive. The new B58TU equipped Supra will whoop ass even harder.

Sorry, they lost me the second I saw the automatic shifter, on the Supra..

It's really tragic they are so reluctant to mate it with a proper manual gearbox.

If they are trying to save a buck, they can simple use the one from M240i and just beef up the clutch and flywheel, since it shares an early iteration of the B58.. :

Until the new Supra finally comes with a clutch, there is no competition; the M2C wins, IMHO..

You should add the production M2cs‘ time of 1:54.8 to your list:

I would think that there is more potential with the S55 vs the B58. The M2C is detuned to start with compared to the F80/82.

No no, I actually didn't know the S55 was detuned in the M2C. You are right as there is more potential. Cheers!

More potential for spun crank hub, for sure . I think B58TU actually will be the better option, not sure what MY that shows up in.

Surprising since the Supra is lighter AND importantly has more tire under it!!
(Honestly looks like he was a little sloppy driving the Supra)

Crank hub definitely a concern if you go big on tuning like stage 2, etc. Next gen M2 (F87) will have S58.

No way Toyota would go with S55 unless the crank hub is redesigned. Also, isn't' s55 forboden in Europe or somewhere starting next year due to emissions or some similar madness?

I would like more than one hero lap. What would it look like after a 30 minute session? I would wager that the M2C with the brakes, cooling, & stronger motor, would increase that lead by 10 to 15 seconds.

Crank hub definitely a concern if you go big on tuning like stage 2, etc. Next gen M2 (G87) will have S58.
I've read that the crank hub issue affects less than 1% of S55 engines. I'm considering a stage 1 Dinan tune to M3/4 HP- I can't imagine that would get remotely close to spinning the hub.- anyone have experience with it? Perhaps I should take the question to the M2C forum...

I dont know why we keep seeing tests with M2 Comps with standard dog boxes and not dct. The comparisons are just not fair.

Hell, even magazine testers want to enjoy the drive rather than have an auto tranny.
