M2C Torque In Low-Rev

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
I have 2 questions:

1. From the specs, for M2C 'peak torque of 550 Nm is on tap between 2,350 and 5,200 rpm', while for M2 'maximum torque of 465Nm, plus 35 Nm with the aid of the Overboost function, between 1,350 and 4,500 rpm', does it mean the out-going lighter M2 has better low-rev power (better pickup) than the heavier M2C?

2. From the specs, M3 (which has the same S55 engine as M2C), 'Peak torque is available from 1800rpm through to 5700rpm', does that mean BMW purposely de-tune the S55 in M2C to have worse performance than the bigger brothers (M3 & M4)?

From BMWUSA site.

2018 M4:

HORSEPOWER (hp @ rpm)
425 @ 5500-7300

TORQUE (lb-ft @ rpm)
406 @ 2350–5500

2018 M2:

HORSEPOWER (hp @ rpm)
365 @ 6500

TORQUE (lb-ft @ rpm)
343 @ 1400–5560

I found this graph representing a 2016 M4.
http://www.automobile-catalog.com/cu...coupe_dct.html
It shows that the M4 at 1400 rpm has 475Nm which I believe converts to 350 ft. lb. of torque. So it looks like the torque of the M4 at 1400rpm is still slightly more than the M2.

1. Better low rev pick-up? How much time are you spending below 2300RPM when wringing the car? Above that, the S55 M2 trumps the N55 M2 all the way to redline.

2. Yes. They simply detuned the S55 in the M2C to keep it below the M3/4. It's been confirmed that it is the same engine, so a simple OBD tune should easily remidy this.
