IMO...Forget the MPE. I have had my M2 with stock exhaust for 27 months. I continue to get compliments about the sound. My M2 sounds far better than my 1M with an aftermarket exhaust. I dropped the first allocation spot for an M2C because I just love the way my M2 drives, sounds and looks.
Congrats!!!

Huh? Most of what I've seen are ppl without downpipes complaining of drone. And my MPE drones between 2800-3400rpm. Though I don't mind it when I'm cruising in the range, I know some people do. I think it sounds awesome on upshifts as it sweeps past the drone range.

As far as getting the MPE, I think it's definitely worth it for the sound. I bought mine brand new with stock exhaust and got the MPE after I put over 2000 miles on it. It's not only louder, but it has a much more dynamic notes that just make the car sound so much more alive. Especially when combined with rev-matching. And you can hear the burbles a lot more too.

Mine doesn’t drone at all. But I agree that the sound is great and I would buy it again.

BIG UPDATE:

Decided to change from DCT to 6 speed manual as well as added adaptive LED, phone and sunroof packages.

I drove manual M4 (no M2 availability) twice last week and can't believe I almost made costly mistake by ordering DCT.

The car is at the port so hoping it will get here soon. Lucky I was able to change it...

Congrats! I am sure you will love the manual! I am going with DCT, but think this car is awesome in manual too!

For what it's worth.. I love my dinan exhaust. And it was way cheaper than mpe when comparing the two. Also, no need to buy tips!

Call Brian Keller at Sun Motor Cars (1-717-697-2300 x1355). I got the exhaust for $1600 shipped to SC (IIRC) and 4 CF tips were $980 shipped.

Picking up my baby M2 in LBB with DCT (took me sometime to decide between two).

I got 6.5% off MSRP and decided skip M2C and stick with sickness of N55.

Now, I was able to get some discount on MPE and need some advice if the price is right

Please note, the price is in Canadian pesos.

MPE list price - 3265. My price - 2718

4 CF tips list price - 498 each. My price 415

Thoughts?

It's been said many times before... If you want better sound with a potential performance benefit for a lower cost, get a Sport-Cat.

If you really like the $1,200 in exhaust tips, order the knock offs from Alibaba for ~$250 a set and fit them to the stock exhaust.

The issue with going MPE for me, was drone, cost, and if you go Sport Cat + MPE + Tune, it's obnoxiously loud. Sport Cat + Tune alone can be too loud as is depending on the map.

Why don't you start with a downpipe and see how it's to your liking. I have the Dinan exhaust and resonator delete and if I could do it over again, I'd get a dp and maybe some black tips.
