Anyone recommend a hotel at the Nurburgring?

I stayed here in 2011.

http://www.am-tiergarten.de/

There is a restaurant downstairs where all the motorsports guys handout and talk cars, Pretty cool to see all the racing memorabilia on the walls of the restaurant . Since 2011 there have been a bunch of new hotels that have opened around the Ring. I am curious to see what hotels are recommended these days around the Ring myself as I plan to be at the Ring Saturday October 13 2018 for the public tourist day in my European Delivered M2 Competition.

A few weeks back, on an ED, I was a first timer at the Nürburgring with an M2 that wasn't broken in yet.

As a first timer there I don't have anything to compare with but I stayed at Apex Nürburg (https://www.apex-nuerburg.com), rented one of their cars and hired one of their instructors for a few laps.

Room was nice & clean, staff was great and I had a great time on the ring.

No restaurant at Apex but we walked to Hotel am Tiergarten for breakfast, Restaurant zur Nürburg for lunch and Lindenhof for dinner. Everything is pretty close.

I would avoid Land-gut-Hotel zur Burg Nurburgring.

Planning to stay with Apex and rent a few of their cars. How was the M2? Did the brakes and tyres hold up? I’m not sure if they modify the pads and tyres for track use. Other companies have dedicated track cars and I destroyed the tyres last time I took a stock car on the ring.

Would you recommend any other cars to drive from their fleet?

I would not expect stock brake pads or tires on a rental, stock wouldn't hold up. A quick read on the web site discusses some of the mods to their M2. Beyond this, I can't really answer your questions on this. When I was there, the M2 wasn't on the rental list or I probably would have coughed up the coin and rented it. The M4 wasn't there either and their 3er (I think it was the 3er) was in an accident while I was on the track. Didn't see how bad.

This was my first time @ Nürburgring and, while I have spent a little time on track, I don't consider myself experienced at this point and I was also trying to keep the expense down. As a consequence, I just rented the 218i with the goal of learning as much as I could. Lots of fun but a low power car.
