Rear vents

Anyone have any insight/care to share their thoughts as to whether the M2 will have rear fender vents, possibly similar to what is shown in this photoshop?

I personally would love it if rear fender vents made it into production to connect the lineage from the 1M even more.

I LIKE that render! What a car. I don't think the fenders will be styled that way though. On the most recent M2 track video, you can already start to see how amazing this car is going to be. I think the above render will be pretty damn close to what we see from the mirror back.

Hard to say because there's still so much camo, but I think we'll see those vents. Not only because the 1M had it, but because it'll take a lot of cues from the Vision Gran Turismo concept. We've already seen that the front bumper will have the same style. Check out the rear:

On another note, I'm getting antsy about this car. I spent all weekends reading the same threads over and over again. Would love to see more pics or videos of the test cars!

The front fenders will have functional vents, this time around, and the rear BUMPER will have them as well. As far as the openings on rear quarter panels, I hope to God they're like the GT6 Vision car.

Haha, I've been doing the same exact thing. Checked the the forum like 5 times today, and since there wasn't anything new, I'd re read the same ones. Every single time.

I was dead set on a Stingray, but I think backing out of that. For this.

So excited, I can't even explain it.

Yes the rear of the vision car also portrays the M2.
If we decrease the depth of the rear to the lower section of the actual car just above the valence then like the front end we get an accurate look at the rear of the car, side vents and all.

Will absolutely have vents. Was explained to me by dealer product "expert" that the brake squeal of M-cars was caused by lack of ventilation, changes made to M6 in '15 to remedy and all future M will have proper venting for performance brakes.

You are probably more of an "expert" than anybody at the dealer.

That's quite a hell of a switch. What made you change your mind so drastically?

I was all about the F80 next until I drove an M235i and realized the potential the M2 has. The F80 is still possible, but leaning toward an M2 right now to add to the E92.

The prototype under camo is still wearing a stock M235i bumper modded to fit a quad exhaust. The lines match as do the position of the deflectors.

the vents everyone is referring to in this thread are the vertical ones and they are for aerodynamics and not cooling. The only M brake squeal issue I know of has to do with carbon ceramic brakes which even super cars suffer from and I doubt cooling will resolve it.

It is quite the switch. Well, if you've been following the stingray, there's been two price increases since launch. And now, the 2015 stop-sale has added to the frustration. In addition, I would be giving up a lot going with a 2 seater. In reality, I don't need 4 seats, but I could really use the extra flexibility.

I loved the stingray so much, that I was previously willing to settle for a two seater. But now that the M2 seems to be looking so gosh darn beautiful, there's no excuse for me to get the Stingray.

I've always been a BMW fan, and wished from the beginning that there was a new ///M car in my price range. I do prefer the BMW ///M professional/powerful look, over the Rocketship styling which the corvette has. It's just that there was no competitor I would consider at the time, and I do think that the Stingray is a freaking HELL of a car, just in a different way.

I could go for either, I love ///M for what it is, and I love Corvette for what it is as well. Two different divisions that accomplish what each one wants to accomplish.

But now that there is one (a ///M model) in my range, and it's looking beautiful from what I can tell, a two seater rocket ship will have to wait.

I just seriously need to hear something new regarding the M2. I'm dyin' over here!

Thank you for the input Scott, I believe I understand what you're saying, but still a little confused.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but are you suggesting that the rear vents are similar to the M3/4 ones at the lower part of the bumper, or will they be elevated (not part of the lower bumper design) like the one the photoshop portrays and the 1M has?

Thanks

I actually think that might be pretty close. But need vents like the 1M, which was much taller. Regardless, that PS looks money.

I'm surprised no one has done PS of the front of the car, now that we have an idea what the front bumper will look like.

Do you think the fender vents will resemble the beautifully sculpted ones on the M235i GT6 Concept?

I'm attaching a picture - I REALLY hope the M2 vents are long, and blend with the metal this perfectly. It just looks so right.

Impossible to tell really. It'd all be speculation at this point. I think the rear bumper vents will have a high chance of looking like concept car (because the 1M's was also pretty aggressive IMO). I would also love to see the fender vents just like that though. It seriously adds so much to the profile.

Haha I think you and I are the most active members in this subforum.

I'm hoping for more flare than that. It looks like an M235i with big wheels and a different bumper.
