Got Comp allocation, should I take it?

I initially jumped on the wait list because my clutch was driving me nuts. I got that replaced under warranty and still love my '16 OG M2. When I was added to the list I was 13th in line, est 18 month wait. I'm guessing a lot of people passed it up, so I'm next.

Not sure I can delay till embargo is lifted. Will this car be worth the switch? For the cash I'd likely lose on the trade I could do full Dinan. I know I have a biased perspective, I'm sure it will be an improvement but it feels like an inventory play on BMW more than a planned progression. Will the next gen be better worth the wait?

I personally think my original m2 will be more fun for daily driving than the m2c. The s55 has trouble getting the power down (in the m3/4 plate form at least) and my car feels quicker when I floor it, while I know it's just a feeling. I love my car, and the upgrade is probably minimal or cosmetic. I'd save the money for whatever comes in the next few years.

13th to 1st seems like a lot of people were thinking the same thing. Think you answered your own question with being able to go full dinan. Enjoying my pre-LCI until the new gen is out, which will hopefully be an intentional upgrade from BMW. I'm sure the m2c will be a great car, just glad I don't have the urgency to upgrade like I did going from m235 to m2.

Now should I get that new cf wing...

I totally agree. Surprised how many said no.

And yes, get the wing, I did and it was meant to be there. I got it for free, long story there.

OP, what was driving you crazy about your clutch?

Why not wait for the hybridized autonomous 2035 M2? Might as well!

Some others posts out there about the details.
Long story - short. I battled with excessive clutch Shutter for about 18mo. Finally got dealer to replace clutch and they found a part sticker on the flywheel. It was a bit toasted but still in tact 30k miles later.

In process of taking it up with BMWNA. I nearly left the brand but my dealer saved a customer.

A level of sarcasm suggesting that someone can't comprehend not trading one M2 for a somewhat, but not entirely, different M2 after only 2 years. Ok then.

My 2c: Save yourself the trouble and pass it up. The C will be a slightly faster, worse sounding version of the car you already have, featuring a few extra bells and whistles that will quickly become irrelevant. I can't fathom trading out of an M2 for the M2C like some folk on here... each to their own I guess

Just remember there'll always be a "better" model coming out soon after! Good luck with your decision.

I personally won't be trading up but I can definitely fathom why others are doing it. If you're into tuning and modding then upgrading is kind of a no brainer. S55 is a much better platform to start off of since it gives you a much higher ceiling in terms of the kinds of hp/tq figures you can achieve. Hell, a few bolt ons and you're already in the 500's. Try doing that with an N55. Not gonna happen cheaply/easily.

Thanks for sharing opinions.

I passed today, crunched some numbers. Didn't make sense. If it were even trade, I'd have bit but residuals weren't there. Plus it was winter delivery. I want euro delete very on next car, not the ideal timing. I'll wait for something else.

Keeping lci and waiting till next gen s58/hybrid. The incremental improvements and s55 ain't worth it

Many that already had an M2 gave up their allocation spots, because they were unsure it made financial sense, decided to wait, etc. Some deferred their early allocation for a later one. This is why a lot of spots opened up. Reviews will be out this coming Monday the 30th. Give it a few more days and we'll know for sure what the demand for the M2c will be.

I gave away my allocation - it's not a limited production vehicle so nothing special about having an allocation.

I gave mine up essentially because it wasn't different enough. I'm also not convinced that the changes make the car a better car for me. Please note to all the haters, I said for me. May very well be a faster car. But that not necessarily what would convince me to switch. The s55 is awesome. I dont plan on selling the n55. I may consider buying another m2 when we see what the next new car brings. Until then, I am 100% pleased with my choice.

Ahhhhh....the shark tank is starting to thin out

I think it is more attractive if you do not already own one.... if you do you would have to tack on the flip loss of your current M2 and ad it to the additional cost of the M2C which then becomes even more expensive.....

My take is it isn't worth it financially to take the financial hit when your car is new and frankly probably 95% of what the M2C is. I may go for one but not until my 17 M2 is far more used up. I will likely go for the M2C in its last year of the production cycle until then it just doesn't make sense to me. By then my 17 M2 will have 80-90,000 miles and will be transitioned to track duty most likely.

I agree. If I were new to the market, I'd be all excited about the m2c. I am fortunate enough that I am not limited by finances, but honestly getting another car wrapped in expel, full exhaust, led steering wheel etc is still too much work lol! I would lose some dough on the deal, but that's not my #1 concern. I'd be more likely to trade in my car on a new m3, m4 or m5 than an m2c.
Just one guy's rationale
