Did he? I thought kept it

Spent a month in hospital after my unfortunate motorcycle accident (see here and here). Back home now and managing life in a world of pain for the rest of the Summer. My 'daily driver': a wheel chair (without M Performance Parts). But I also use crutches. Still not authorised to stand on my right leg (0%). Will initiate doing that mid August (incrementally). The leg injuries I incurred are 'complex' (vertically split/splintered). Two long titanium plates with 13 screws drilled through my tibia and fibula keep it together to consolidate broken bones. The shoulder and ribs injuries heal faster. Needless to say that I'm fanatically working on revalidation. Rock steady, it's gonna be alright in the end ('normal' instead of 'as perfect as ever before'), but it will take months to get back to normal again. My presence over here on the board will be like an app turning in the background.

We’re all rooting for your speedy recovery! Ohh, and a little birdie whispered in my ear that your M2 misses you and is eagerly awaiting your return and that the 1M was just as anxious.

I had a bad Sports injury that robbed me of a year and a half of my (physical) life, but also made me realize how fortunate I was - once fully healthy again, just going to get the mail was not taken for granted, and a moment of running on the beach was a celebration. Heal up and Godspeed!

Dang Luc, well... we are all wishing you a speedy recovery. I know it's a long slow road to row. Looking forward to our "next" adventure together.

Btw... I think Rikx1M wants to visit you soon. He has some BMW goodies from our little Alpine adventure gang.

Bummer that the progress is slow but at least it is progress. Best wishes for speed after recovery, or something like that ;^)

My car is currently still in Italy. My accident happened a few days before leaving on a scheduled mountain trip through Austria, Italy and Slovenia with BMW friends. Pity that I had to cancel that cool trip, but, hey, the mountains will still be there in the future.

Earlier this week I convinced my wife - after much insisting - to go drive my car for at least an hour or so (good for the battery and system internals). She was pretty reluctant and had dodged the bullet a couple of times. This time she committed to finally drive it and asked a girlfriend to join her. She even called me when she had fired up the engine. I instructed her right away to put it into "SPORT" mode and to activate the M Performance Exhaust "for better breathing of the car after long inactivity", haha... Subsequently silence covered the skies for a few hours. Then she resurfaced: "Actually, we had a lot of fun, especially in tunnels. We may do this again."

There's a chance that later this Summer I will return my car to Belgium. But driven by my brother or a friend, with me in the passenger seat. Can't see myself drive any car before Autumn.

Brother Luc, I'd still like to visit you before too long...just a thought but we might do a drive in Sept before I roll back to USA...perhaps you can join us as a passenger?

Thanks Rikx1M.

Judging by the RX-imagery earlier this week, I'm still out for quite some time due to my high-energy injuries. Only from next month onwards I'm allowed to start standing on my right leg (incrementally from 0% to 100%). The muscle mass in my right leg is significantly reduced as a result of the (mandatory) inactivity. It will take 1 to 2 years to regain full muscle mass again. The flex angle of that leg will inevitably be reduced (never as high as before the accident), but still functional. Most important is that I did not lose my leg.

'Schatzker Type VI' tibial plateau fractures = long healing & revalidation process.

I hope that your work has been accommodating.
