Tacho Warm Up Lights for S55?

My turn for a likely (almost certainly) obvious/stupid question.

On my wife's F80 the tacho has warm up lights, i.e., yellow and red lights that artificially lower the redline of the engine until the engine is warm. I love these things. However, from what I can tell the new M2C doesn't have a similar setup. I know that the new gauges are digital-like, but can we confirm that there is no similar functionality in the tacho on the M2C?

As far as I know, the digital cluster is the same as in the M2 LCI, so, it won't have it.

Yep, that's what I figured. That's a bummer, that's one thing about M that I have always liked, which is protecting that engine. Surprised too given that it's the same engine as in the F80 but then again not surprised that they didn't redo a whole system just for that for a car that will be sold only for 1-3 years.

My car gets babied until at least 190 oil temp. Then no speed racer before 220.

They are just getting lazy. The Z4M had it. It's probably not as critical with the turbo engines as it was with S54, S65, and S85 though. The S55 has no known bearing issues.

Yeah true, the S55 has just had spun crank hub issues (which hopefully get resolved for the M2C)

I thought that was resolved years ago?

Doesn't look like it... go troll the F80 forums. There have been a few 2017s and 2018s. Some were tuned though, others weren't.

Quantifiable Spun Crank Hub Data? Choose your year and tune status. https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1507092

I just read that thread, thanks. What I got from it is that 6spd and non-tune is pretty much no problem with the newer models. There was one guy that did a CS flash tune that had the problem which bothers me a bit since I was interested in that tune.

BMW left out few things on purpose for the next generation, so they can claim it as a real M car, lol.

Fixed in M2C - M engine, M mirrors, M wheel buttons, optional accessory carbon parts, M seats

Still missing - tach lights, lights on shifter, adjustable suspension, factory built carbon parts, merino leather

Either way, if you check other forums you'll see that the S55 failure rate is tiny in comparison to the S65 and S85 failure rates. There are very few spun crank hubs on stock cars.

Never implied that they were equal to or higher. Just said that it's the only problem I know of.
