M2 CS delivery - Australia (HS - M-DCT - 2NH - BLK 763M - PSS)
Finally after over half a year of waiting a beautiful HS M2 CS is parked in my garage. I'm sharing initial thoughts and pictures here and will add to this over the coming days. First Impressions: --------------------- 1. What a beautiful car! 2. The steering wheel is nowhere near as bulky as the reviews suggested. In fact, it feels smaller than my previous M Performance Steering wheel with OLED display in the F80. What a complete beat up! It feels absolutely great in my hands. 3. I've read many times about the great steering feel and turn-in of this car but couldn't quite imagine what that felt like until I drove the car. It's the best steering BMW I've had since my E46. Simply put - brilliant. 4. The size of the car is great - I'm coming from a F80 and the car wraps around you and is a joy to drive 5. You can't see the hood vent from the driver position. Something I didn't expect. 6. I thought there were seat heaters in the car. Haven't yet confirmed if they exist or how to activate them. 7. The dampers on comfort are still pretty tight, so not a plush ride. But definitely liveable. I was driving on some bad roads near my dealer and hopefully it will be smoother near where I am. 8. The steering feel is lovely. Not only that, sport setting on the wheel in the F87 CS felt like comfort on my F80. I really like it. Comfort on the F87 CS is better than anything available on the F80 - perhaps partially due to the smaller length of the car and wheelbase? 8. The whole car looks beautiful. I think this will be a keeper for me. I can't imagine how a car could look any better - it is just stunning. HS in person is a real keeper. Photos don't quite show the graduation in colour it presents. For those who ordered it, you'll be very happy. The dark carbon and other car colours contrast beautifully with it. 9. No burbles or cracks in the exhaust so far. That said, I haven't pushed it hard or driven with the windows down. At leads I don't feel ostentatious driving it like I do in my X4 M40i in sport throttle mode. 10. I had to adjust the sound setting to maximise speed sensitivity to hear the sound system and phone audio properly. Much better when I did - I was getting worried for a few mins that the speakers were underpowered. 11. Air condition options are odd to me (I normally have feet and face as both set together and that doesn't seem an option with the car. Different to how our M235i was configured as well as our F80 and X4 M40i). I'm sure I'll get the right setting soon. 12. Speaking of AC, the heat was coming in quite a lot through the windows and wasn't that comfortable. I didn't get privacy glass as am getting tinting in a week. I will definitely make sure we amp up the UV screening on that for an Aussie summer. 13. I'm coming from a F80 with HUD so was a little worried keeping my speed in check without as easier to read speed info. However, I got the digital speedo working using the BC button the stalk and all is good. I passed two police vehicles on the way home and will drive a lot more at ease now that I can keep a grip on velocity. The car races past legal limits quickly, though not so much that you can't enjoy it at urban speeds. 14. The roof is beautiful. A couple of not perfectly symmetrical squares I noticed but it just looks organic to me and stunning. I'm going to do more driving and post more photos when I can. If you're waiting for your car, you are going to love it! Last edited by Jimjamz; 01-15-2021 at 02:33 AM.. |

Congratulations! You have impeccable taste (my spec is near identical, except for scoring the privacy glass).
I think we miss the heated seats option as BMW Australia only offered the single zone climate control. Not sure where the weight savings are there, but would have been nice to have, especially for Melbourne winters. Enjoy every minute, looks stunning. Waiting for more photos |

Privacy glass and seat heating
Quote:
I decided against the privacy glass as getting the car tinted in the next week. Bummer about the AC and seat heating. Still the cockpit is so small and there are only two in there so not a big deal. |

More pics and impressions
More pics attached
I've just gone on a longer drive and really the car is something else. Steering feel and 'turn in' really is something I've never noticed in a car like I am in the CS. Beautiful to drive. I do have only one gripe so far. The AC setting options seem to force air either onto the windscreen (where it fogs the window), or feet. Not sure why BMW Australia didn't option up the AC system for Australia given our climate. Fail on that front unless I can be educated on the way of maxing airflow to feet and driver (and not windscreen to avoid fogging up on a hot day). Hopefully it's user error... |

Oh my loooord, those pictures are incredible... also noticed your in NSW. Would be cool to have my car next to the bigger and beefier brother.
One thing I really do want is that M2 CS specific bonnet. Shame it is 11,000 AUD unpainted without all the extra bits needed..

Thank you all. Once I've put on the PPF and got a drone would love to do a sydney shoot down near the sea cliff bridge shoot if any of you in NSW are also interested in bringing your cars along and grabbing a coffee. Should be ready in a month I think.
One more photo of the beauty in the driveway. |

Stunning photos - congratulations! I really think the HS brings out the aggressive lines of the car more than the other three colors (MB here). Brilliant.
Hard to believe BMW found it worth its while and had some logic on this limited run car to change the climate control or delete seat heaters vs. US and other spec cars |
