Seeing this and knowing corporations like to make money, why wouldn't they build a CS version of this new M2? That would quickly devalue our cars.

It's likely that there is already a CS and CSL/E in the pipeline. Unfortunately the days of last minute homologations of various components is gone in large part to environmental and safety regulations. These special variants must be pre-planned as part of the platform generation. BMW was pretty open about the the base, Comp, CS, and CSL direction. At some point electrification will need to make it's appearance. Is that better served in a flagship model, or is it safer to build it into a special variant where cost can be passed on to consumer more easily?

The fact there was a E46 M3 CSL arguably does not devalue a E30 M3 special edition. The more the legend of the M2 grows, the greater the desirability of its genesis peak version - particularly if it was as universally lauded as the F87 CS.

I would not worry too much about a future successful G87 M2 CS.

If the children do well the parents and grandparents will bask in a reflected glory.
