I can appreciate the humor. Although I must say I see a lot of young guys in their 20's and 30's driving M4s
There's a young Chinese girl who visits my dealer for service - she drives an M4 with every Dinan $ you can spend on it. Oh to be off in college with access to daddy's newfound billions.

I guess the C63 and C63S are even more of a boat compared to the M2. The sedan and coupe are 3900 - 4100 lbs. I believe.

For handling, driving feel, and nimbleness, I would think M2 would win.

Would I trade up M2 for a M4 straight up brand new? Of course I will, there is a reason why m4 is 12k more MSRP wise.

Would I buy a M4 over M2 stragith up? Not even close, I will buy M2 over M4 10 out 10 times if it's my pocket money.

Would I lease a M2 over M4? No, M4 is much of a bargain to lease compare to current situation with M2.

last but not least, would you trade up a brand new M2 for a modified (most likely abused in many ways) M4? If I were you , I will avoid that at any cost.
what he said.. imyourmaster Nuff said!

one of my best friends way back in the 1990s was a guy whose parents bought him a 1995 M3 brand new (Hi Geoff!) and shipped the car from California to campus for him in West Lafayette at Purdue. they sent him to school as a freshman with the brand new car and 8K in his pocket... that money didn't make it to December..

He had about 3-4K in a boomin system in that car immediately.. plus suspension mods.. and was calling home in mid December for more cash.

My friend had an M3 CSL as his first car. Got a ticket doing 145 in a 65. Dumb idea for a young kid.

His crazy mother took it to the store one day in the snow, on summer tires, and totaled it 50 feet from the house. It's a shame those are worth $$$$$$ now.

My brother's roommate freshman year got a E39 M5 as a graduation present. Dumbass traded it even money for a Denali.

The good news is that it wasn't a CSL.

For $55k, I'd own the m2. For $80k I'd own a 997.2 turbo. I sold mine and sure as hell wasn't going to get only an m4 in exchange. M4 price point is poor value. M2 is an awesome price point. Not to mention much more fun drive.

It's funny how this exact same thread all bashes the M2 in the M4 section.

Having driven and owned both I vote M2

My comment on the affordability of an M2 vs M4 meant nothing more than the simple reality. An M4 costs more than an M2. Argue that all you want. Show me ANY dealer discounting a 2017 M3/4 to get even close to a $57k 2017 M2.

Like you, I drive the M2 and I'm very happy with it. I guess thats where the similarity ends but I wish you will prove me wrong.
Leasing a M2 is significantly more expensive than leasing a M4 for me. I was getting quoted 800/mo for the M4 and 1100/mo for the M2.

I ended up purchasing the M2 as I had no interest in the "cheaper" M4.

Obviously. I went to Wharton had a Malaysian friend who did a semester abroad in Paris. Dad got him a bullet proof 7 series to drive there. At the end of the semester he just left it sitting there bc selling it seemed complicated.

Side note - I currently own a 2017 M2 and I'm considering trading it in on a 2015 M4 coupe, under 6000 miles on the odometer and a Dinan package making 530hp.
Keep the M2 buy an M performance coilover for it and put MPSS 255/35 front tires and 285/35 rear tires and be done with it.

In the end, it's all a matter of perception.

"I wear my Ray-Bans, driving in the car | Even on a cloudy day | She always says: "Man! Who d'you think you are ?" | 'Cause she don't see it my way | We are all sleepwalkers | We only see the things we wanna see | Tunnel visions | And there's no end in sight."

I could have bought an M2 or an M3 or M4. My heart said M3. I have lusted after M3s Pretty much forever having had two E21s. I tried to love it. I couldn't. M4 never got to first base. A 2.5 hour test drive in the M2 and the deal was done.

So in answer to your question no.

Each however to their own.

I wouldn't trade my M2 for an M4 at all but rather for an Alfa Romeo Giulia QV.

But unfortunately six years ago our government destroyed the sport car market when they introduced the annual tax based on the power of the motor (KW).
Annual tax for M2 is 2.625 Euro, M4 CP 4.073 Euro and 5.122 Euro for the Giulia QV...

So I will keep my M2 with a lot of satisfaction as long as I can

Although I've only had mine a couple of days, I've already developed a preference for my M2 over the Mrs' M4 convertible. Feels much tighter around corners and the size is perfect for me. I've always felt that the M4 is too big.

Get a TT RS - if you ever lose, just get a APR tune to reach 0-60 in sub 3 seconds.

Way lighter plus AWD should give you what you were looking for.
