The Carrera S running a 11.2 was also very impressive for a RWD car... then again they are like 140-150k now with basic options which is kind of absurd for a base model 911.

impressed with the DBS top end, that thing was HAULING after the 1/4 mile.

I wonder why they didn’t replace the M850i with an M8C. If they’ve mentioned it in the video, then I must’ve missed it. I only watched the drag race part today morning

They mention in another video that the M8 wasn't available/out yet when they were filming.

My bad. That clears it up and that was what I assumed as well. That it was filmed earlier. Seeing how the M8C does the quarter mile in like 11.3s (going off of other videos on YT), I’m assuming it would’ve finished somewhere in the top 4 in the half-mile too?

The Merc AMG launches like off a catapult, impressive for a sedan.

Going by carwow, the M8C does it in 11.0s. Not 11.3s like I mentioned before. So yes. I’d have loved it too if they could’ve included the M8C.

Man. It does NOT look like the Mustang was half a second faster than the M2 over the half mile.

Maybe multiple takes and they only used their best times?

I noticed this as well. Seems the GT350 got off to a horrible start in the taped run, as it looked like it was spinning for the first 100 feet. I would guess they did a couple runs, but who knows.

Yup. Looks like they probably did a few runs and used the one where most of the cars got a good start for our viewing pleasure while they posted the best times of each car?

This is exactly why it makes ZERO sense to me when people get into arguments, specifically on this forum, about lap times and 0-60 times and such... There are FAR too many variables at play. Hellcat wasn't launched proplerly, M2C loaner has shit brakes or bad tires or both, pro drivers have more driving skill in their fingers than most people do in their whole bodies, one side of the strip may have had more grip than the other, wrong settings in the car, cold tires, amount of fuel in the tank, differing tire pressures, etc.

I could go out right now and have my M2 smoked by someone in a mini-van, because it's pouring rain and I wouldn't get any traction. I don't give a shit if Randy Probst or *insert pro driver here* can do 1/4 seconds faster around a track in a C8 than the M2C... It DOESN'T translate to normal application, and most time comparisons are well within margin of error. It's stupid. If it makes you smile behind the wheel, then who cares... I've never heard anyone comparing stock lap times of cars, other than 12 year olds on Forza...

almost every car mag does multiple runs to get the best time. impossible to line up 9 people and have an even drag race because of reaction times.

Also I just realized that 8 of the 9 cars are forced induction. The only NA car there is the GT350. Wish they would have brought a 812 Superfast to the showdown.

Now with the M8GC out we deserve to see a fair face between it and the Merc.

Also if math serves me right the Carwow channel clock the M8 Coupe completing the quarter mile at 11 secs meaning it'll be no. 2 on this list. Fanboy level 1000 activated.

I don’t get these drag races. I love my M2 because of the handling not because it is fast in a straight line.

but these tests are held in controlled environments and at least i d like to see why other cars lose as well.. in marketing terms "worlds greatest drag race 9" title means nothing to me if there is not much analysis, nice shots, side to side comparisons on the screen or great editing or cool insights.. Jeremy Clarkson was doing it perfectly in his golden times.. otherwise yes in real life a lot of things do vary.. and i cant understand why most of the car programs cant even get close to that level.. and its annoying..
