I plan on owning this thing for a very long time, a delay of a couple of weeks isn't going to damage that experience for me and certainly isn't going to make me go buy something else when i went through the decision process on what is the right car for me and the M2 was the winner.
The initial delays are water under the bridge, this specific delay make me not able to attend the performance center - a primary reason for buying a new car - and also breaks a contract they signed saying my car would be ready on this day. It doesn't help that this all came out the day after I signed on my car as they pushed me to do that 3 weeks in advance of picking it up.

First time buying a new car, yes.
You sure your contract said that? I'm pretty sure ED and PC delivery agreements explicitly say that there are delays and that they are not in breach if they can produce it on that day due to a delay on their end.

I believe this was linked earlier and it was stated that the website hasn’t been updated for this latest recall. Didn’t one someone checking the website and getting excited because it didn’t list a recall

If your car is as the VPC, the dealer can check for the date the car is expected to leave the VPC and reach the dealership. Nothing is set in stone, so it could always happen sooner or later. It looks like end of May, beginning of June, when these cars will be getting fixed and released. So, in approximately in 2 weeks depending on which cars got there first.

Anyone know what happens to these cars while they're there for such an extended time? Do they just sit there in a parking lot? I sure hope the car doesn't come with corroded disks as you sometimes see on cars that sit and aren't driven. Then again, I don't want anyone joyriding my car either.

I shared this with bmwusa today and they confirmed this is not an official statement from BMW and that no fix or timeline is in place for affected cars.

I'm sure our cars are just sitting there, getting dirty, shit on by sea gulls and baking in the sun... dreaming of the day they're driven.

That communication looked official, but also looked like an internal bmw memo to dealers and not something to be communicated with the general public.

Yeah, def seems like an internal memo only, and not an official bulletin for customers. At least that's the hope!

Can BMW Genius tell me my car's status when at the VDC?

Yes, or customer service should know if you can provide your VIN

If parts are really arriving during the week of May 27th, this doesn't seem awful. Looks like there's a fix in place and it's just a matter of getting parts to the dealers / ports etc.

It now shows that the database was updated today, so it's no longer 8 months out of date.

Can someone who’s affected confirm that their cars shows as needing the recall via that site? So far I don’t think we’ve seen one yet

It's not been released to the public yet until they can find a fix.

The only place you'll see it is in your dealers database

You guys may be right, but bmwusa told me it's not from them and my SA told me he definately has not seen it and has not gotten an update. He knows I am on the fence about cancelling my order and would give me any good info to keep me on my order

I am also seriously thinking about backing out of my M2C as well. It is unbelievable that after almost 2 weeks of wait (car stuck at the dealership with a stop sale order), they have no official resolution and timeframe information for the customers.

Mine told me that flier was not true, also heard from two others who's dealers denied the validity of that

Not good news...called customer relations and my car is part of the recall even though it still wasn't listed on the recall website as of this morning. The ship docked in Los Angeles this morning and now my car will sit at the VDC and wait for parts.
I took European Delivery and now I suspect it will push beyond 3 months from when I took delivery to getting my car back.

Again, the recall is not publicly listed yet so it's not going to show up in the database

Scratch that. Was just notified that mine is part of this recall. Wasn't given an ETA or anything. Hoping to find something out tomorrow.
