Best charge pipe for S55...
Title pretty well says it all other than is it even necessary on stock tune?

It actually turns out the S55 does suffer from chargepipe issues (inparticular at the flange): https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1113212
The good news is that it should be relatively easy to swap out and upgrade since everything is on top of the engine. I would personally buy BMS charge pipes: https://burgertuning.com/products/m3...um-chargepipes Because I have had really great experiences with BMS products. I would avoid carbon charge pipes because I hear they can crack under high boost conditions.

while you're at it you probably should replace the stock air to water intercooler as well, they are known to leak.

Personally I'm not a fan of the mishimoto charge pipes, they're made of multiple segments welded together rather than bms and ftp which look to be mandrel bent from a single continuous tube. As a result the mishimoto tubes are not perfectly smooth inside and have welds and tube segments that jut up inside of the tube and that doesn't allow air to flow as smoothly.
Credit: https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1703234 Credit: https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1703234 This is what I mean, look at the sections inside not fully lining up, that trips up air flow and makes this pipe flow more turbulently than the bms or ftp pipe. Then the second image shows the example of welds that you get from having to join multiple segments together. Not ideal imo.

Eventuri - I have the gloss carbon exclusively sold at IND. Fit and finish is perfect.

https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1761232 Next (assuming that the allegations of the eventuri pipes can only hold 24 psi is completely wrong) we have to look at future flexibility for upgrades, the eventuri cp don't appear to have meth bungs sonif you want to run meth or water injection you can't. And finally they're $1k, that's just insane money for a pipe. That alone imo is a deal breaker, especially since they'll offer less features than the competition.

Honestly on the stock tune I wouldn't even worry about your charge pipes. They're not a common S55 failure. I wouldn't worry too much about your intercooler either. Just take a look periodically at the seam on its expansion tank for signs of dried coolant as that's a common indicator of a leak.

Wasn't sure how prevalent it was on the comp at stock tune so may wait it out until warranty runs out. Thanks.

Depends on what you mean by best. The highest quality pipe on the market is the Evolution Racewerks. Their finish quality is second to none and all ER products are handbuilt in the US.
The best value charge pipe is the MAD. Both will fit and never break. Its a matter of preference and budget on which to get.

Price gap is high, other than finish quality why would one choose the ER?

Yup under warranty you don't need to touch anything, let the dealer replace it for free.

What's the purpose of a different engine cover?

Aesthetics, some people switch to carbon covers.

From an engineering standpoint, I don't consider the multiple segments in the Mishimoto pipes to be an issue. If we were talking about tuned runners that went directly to the intake valves, then absolutely, but the charge pipe is under pressure and upstream of the massively turbulent intercooler plenum.

Best chargepipes are going to be any silicone ones. They keep IATs cooler and are less susceptible to heat soak than metal/aluminum.

Other than the finish options anodized vs our powdercoated you wouldn't know the difference once installed except for the $300 bucks still in your pocket.
