HPDE/Open Lapping Insurance?

Any suggestions? I finally was able to get hold of the fine print in my automotive policy, and I'm *not* covered for HPDE's.

So, anyone have a good steer to a relatively inexpensive option that covers in Colorado?

Most that I've looked at (on track & locton) don't seem to have anything in CO.

TIA--

R.

I use OnTrack insurance.

https://ontrackinsurance.com/

If they do not have an event listed, just shoot them an email, they'll get it added to their list.

I did shoot them an email-- and they said that CO is the only state in the country that they don't cover.

Go figure.

Open track - I've used it in CO. But doesn't cover TT or any competitive events.

This will probably be the same with most underwriters. TT and other competitive events are inherently more risky.

Lockton, RLI, and Hagerty offer TT insurance options. But NOT for CO.

I use Lockton here in NY (about half as expensive as Hagerty). I would contact somebody there (in person/direct, not via web info) to ask them why they aren't covering CO. Might just be that they haven't added the sites to their listings? Might also help to work with your local BMWCCA chapter, as they might have more pull (you can't be the only person at their events who wants insurance). And AFAIK, none of the auto insurance carriers will cover HPDE, they all have disclaimers about either driving on racetracks, or specifically mentioning HPDE - if anyone can confirm otherwise I'd love to hear about it.

I self insure.

Policies 20 years ago used to say not covered if racing. Most now say not covered on a circuit used for racing.

..... aaaand, Locton is out.

They don't offer any coverage in CO.

The funny thing is that in the HPDE paperwork, it says that they've partnered with Locton. I'll have to ask a few questions this weekend.

I wonder why CO is on the Black List?

This is incorrect (may be state specific). Hagerty covers time trials...
