Track pads for 2NH

Just picked up my '19 M2C last week, and getting all the track goodies together for a weekend next month.

Seems like Carbotech, and pagid are the strongest options. An instructor friend recommended against the XP8-12. But $850 for the pagids is hard to swallow.

I'm an intermediate level driver. Previously ran hawk DTC70 on my E92.

Seems like this gets asked weekly.

You have options, and a lot comes down to personal taste.

I prefer Ferodo pads personally (DS 1.11), but pagids are also very common.

Good pads are expensive, but tracking your car isn't really a cheap endeavor. It's worth it to spend a bit more on good pads.

I just got back from a track weekend at HPR and first time I have used the Porterfield R-4 pads. I can highly recommend them. They had excellent initial bite, very good modulation and never hinted of fade. They are not cheap, but you can get front / rear axle for just over $600.

Search function sucks. But yeah, sorry for

I would rather spend a bit more for a better pad, and more longevity. Leaning Pagid but also looking at the Ferrodo G-Loc.

Is that $850 number for the front and rear pads? FWIW, you don't need to run track pads in the rear. There's no problem if you do of course, but stock pads in the rear won't melt during a track day like the fronts do.

R4's are great pads for all but the fastest drivers, and, or circuits that are tough on pads.

You can also use them on the street if you don't mind some noise.

The compound does not eat your rotors on the street.

Many of the track only pads are horrible on rotor life unless they are heated to operating temp.

That's Old school thinking , but true for older systems
Modern braking systems use the rears extensively for dynamic control.
Different compounds also affect f/r bias
I highly recommend F+R for track

They're not going to melt onto your rotors like the fronts is what I'm saying. There are of course going to be benefits to running track pads all around. But you could stagger your purchases as you get used to driving the car on track.
