No matter the badge that the production version of this car will get (a wing could have been deliberately left off the test mule to fool the public), to my ears here we got a 6-cyl + PDK (listen especially to the low-speed gearshifts in the 00:40-00-45 video section).

Is also a Touring version considered for the upcoming GT4 ?

All the known rumors point to the half blown CS, which is virtually a competition with a few already made MP parts and a higher hp tune.

On one hand, CS would make a good business decision as it is most profitable without having to make new parts. It was already the plan if it wasn't for the emission regulation that kills the OG. On the other, timing is everything, the schedule is the most important. The 80k CS or the 110k CSL must be announced in or before Q3 2019, to minimize its impact on G80/82 which could be announced any time in late 2019 or early 2020.

If CS gets announced, there is no time left for CSL. BMW would kill CSL to protect G80, even if all the engineering and tooling for it are done. CSL is going to be the greatest F8X M car (S55+DCT) or the all-time greatest M car we ever lose.

A touring package for the GT4 could happen according to the latest rumors.
However I don't see the point of Porsche making touring versions of their top tier sports cars.
Maybe there is some history behind it?

Looks to be a GTS...There will probably be a GT4 touring as well and Spyder.

There are many vids of this car without any cammo just driving along, looking like a 718 S or GTS, but the exhaust note is not 4 cylinders.

It would get the car down to the OG M2 weight, with the power of the S55.
That appeal will allure some, but they need to offer in 6MT....

These pure CS models not being offered in 6MT has been a mistake, IMO.

Yep, no manual will be a deal breaker for me, but someone will take my spot.

Interesting — I do not see the MPE. Also it looks great with the slight drop on the MP suspension.

Ok, what we know here:
1) Seat material seemingly changes to something like Sport T-Rex found in 911. Which is good.

2) Steering wheel is the Alcantara with blue center. To each their own.

3) Muffler is new. We saw similar design from G80 spy shots. Could be a sport version sitting between M2C and MP slip on (yet to be released or not).

4) CCB is likely to be the standard equipment, to make up for the loss of the fancy laser tear style tail light that M3/4 CS/GTS features. Personally I'd rather have the tear tail light. I can always upgrade to CCB myself.

5) Have Power dome hood, Carbon roof, front lip and spoiler. But carbon fender and trunk are missing.

6) Carry over 763M in black and cup2 in 245/265/35/19. And slightly lowered.

TBH those parts combined qualify for a CS that cost a 35-40% premium (over base version like F80/82 cs), but I for one just am not all that excited about it given the existence of M2C.

How things could've been different if for MY2019 BMW just updated the M2 OG with the 380-390hp version of B58 and call it M2C or keep the OG name. And now present us this 430-450hp M2 CS. Only in that way, CS would've been an instant halo M car.

Interesting on the seats (manual/cloth) seats could shave some weight

This car does not need power it needs weight reduction.

Nothing other than he believes it is coming.

Just as I get done saying I'm only buying manual these pictures surface and make me pause for a moment.

I agree with a lot of what SeanWRT is saying, but I also believe they are pulling weight from the right places. Hopefully a nice set of lightweight wheels will be equipped. It does get more difficult as you approach used 991.2 money.

Has it finally happened that the prospect of an M2 CS has not stirred the emotions of everyone that it's looked upon as persona non grata?

I've been patiently waiting for a special M2 since the M4 GTS was announced. I'm second on the unofficial list at my dealer for it to do with a European delivery/ M-Power tour.

How can we comment and speculate if nothing is being announced or tested though?

If it were a manual only vehicle, then I would expect it to be unwelcome in a country that has a low manual take rate. It would make sense for a US only version to be manual only. Especially with limited run in country that has 50% manual rate.

A CSL that is DCT only would likely get more smiles in homeland, and more frowns in US.

Wow times have changed.

Seems like a decent tease/reveal 4 days ago with big clues of the CS.

A few years back, heck a year ago this would have caused melt down. Now pretty much 4 replies.

I think this is just over played now. People are showing they're not that interested anymore until some facts are released.

The M2 variant prototype shelved by BMW M late 2017 was apparently badass.

Hopefully no "kill your darlings" at BMW M this time around.
