Hi all, getting tired of cleaning the 788's. Figured pads are cheaper than easier to clean wheels! Any good recs for pads with low dust and maybe a bit more grab? Doesnt have to do track duty, but if people have recs for that lmk. I'm in the US, have the big brakes.

I ran EBC yellow stuff pads for years in my Cayman S and they where the lowest brake dust I have ever seen. The feel and bite of the pads where very impressive.

Carbon ceramic pads. The PowerStop brand ones are like $80-90/set. Way less dust and great for street.

Yeah ceramic coating will make it easier to clean but won't prevent us from having to clean every couple days from brake dust lol. I'm hoping to find a good brake pad

For low dust you will lose some initial bite esp when cold and wet. It's pretty much an unavoidable thing and why BMW specs these dusty pads for the street.

Now, the M2C has a very overboosted brake pedal IMO after driving it for a short time, so it could probably benefit from a pad that has a little less initial bite.

I would look at the Porterfield R4S, Hawk HPS 5.0, maybe Carbotech 1521. Something along those lines. They are not really marketed as super low dust pads, but they are much lower than OEM BMW (Textar) pads.

Thanks for all the advice. Fwiw, my wheels are ceramic coated. If that is helping, i cant imagine how bad it would be without. I am prob in the minority in that i really like the wheel design. But cleaning them suuuuucks

It's flat out awful without any ceramic coating. I'm nearly done dealing with them and have been eyeing less silly wheels for the last couple of weeks.

One week of ownership here and 1,230 miles. I've never seen brake dust like this..

INSANE! I plan to smoke these pads up quickly racing, and certainly go a different route.

Ferodo offers some excellent choices for the M2 Competition, front and rear.

For around town, autoX, and light track duty, the Ferodo DS2500 is tough to beat. They are NOT low dust, but they are low noise, have terrific feel, and have an extremely high max operating temperature. In our opinion they're the most versatile pad overall on the market, and the closest thing you'll find to a hybrid track/street pad.

For track use, the DS1.11 is an outstanding option. They last a long time, are easy on disc, and almost never have vibration or judder issues.

The real beauty of the Ferodo compounds is that they can be swapped around on the same set of discs without having to re-bed them. That means you can go from track to street to track and back without having to re-bed constantly.

The problem with low dust, ceramic style pads is that they feel awful and have very little bite. In my experience they diminish the fun of the car, and the only place I ever run them is in my grocery-chasers. The reason they have no dust is because they aren't biting into the disc.

i've had great experience with the Centric Posi Semi-Metallic pads. very very low dust and quiet. great initial bite. had these on multiple cars within my extended family - Porsche Cayenne, MB E500 4M, Audi Q7 TDI, VW Jettasportwagen TDI, etc...

very hard to beat the price point as well.

The Carbotech Pads have worked out really well for me. Pretty close to same initial bite as stock with way less dust. I love these pads!

I am running the Ferodo DS2500; initially I thought I would run them all around as a hybrid but after a track day of heavy braking (I had an awesome coach who really helped me move to a whole new level in regard to speed and braking) I had a judder issue with material on the front discs...so I swapped over to the Ferodo DS 1.11 two weeks prior to my next track day (Laguna Seca last Tuesday!!!!) so it could slowly clean off the layer left by the slightly melted DS 2500 pads.
This is all to say the DS 2500 is a great street performance pad if you are a beginner on the track, but as soon as you start pushing hard into corners with late/ heavy braking you really are going to want a full race pad. The DS 1.11 so far is awesome though really a bit noisy (far too noisy to use on the street). That said they have great bite and modulation....so if they hold up as well as suggested, they are an awesome track pad. I will put the DS 2500 back on next week and await my next track day for future reports...
