is this going to be an option when factory ordering a car or just a dealer installed part? anybody know, about to commit to a 2020 m2c.. but might wait if its a factory option.

M performance exhaust was never a factory option and probably will never be. However, it's a port installed option, meaning once your car arrives at the vehicle distribution center in the states (aka port) they can install it at the port (they will keep your stock exhaust tho, just FYI). My friend recently ordered a 2020 M2C and she was able to add the MPE as a port installed option.

cntzl do you know when your friend will get his/her car?

I’m really interested in seeing the MPE on a real car.

My friend's car is on a ship now and expected to arrive at the port in CA first week of September. However, I saw this photo awhile ago in one of the M2 groups on Facebook (a US owner already got it installed on his M2C):

I haven't seen any sound clips aside from the ones in the other thread. Honestly, as you may remember, I was a big fan of MPE on my M4 and had such high expectations for the M2C version too but after seeing what I posted above, I must say it's such a big disappointment for me. To each their own but I'm really glad I went a different route.

Somehow it seems the MPE rear box is even bigger than the stock one. Having the MPE badge does not help.

I was just thinking the same thing? Curious on the size comparison. It looks like the MPE hangs down further than stock???!

Exactly! I have seen it online on a Canadian car too and it looked exactly the same. MPE looks like it's just as tall or even taller than the stock muffler.

So the dealer has fitted my MPE (CF tips are still coming so ignore the bare pipes). Unfortunately all I have is this little start-up clip for now if anyone is interested. The car is inside so there is a bit of an echo but from what I've been told it's pretty loud and a lot deeper sounding than what the video can play back.

I just can't wait to collect the car and experience it in person now.

So I finally took delivery of my M2C! Some initial obligatory pics attached.

First off, visually the MPE looks better in person than it does in pictures. You have to be really low to the ground to the see it hanging (or standing pretty far back) and even when you do see it I think it looks way better than the original exhaust. It looks like it's meant to be there whereas the original exhaust looks out of place, maybe it's the shape and the 'ridges/indents' in the original which contribute to the 'udder' look. I'm keen to see how it looks after some time and when the titanium starts to get some colour.

Now on to the sound. Personally I'm really, really happy with the sound. It has a depth and bass to it that I love. Unfortunately it doesn't come through on videos but I have attached a short clip from inside the car (this was recorded in an underground parking). I'll try get some more recordings in the coming days. I'm also not revving it all the way since I'm still in the break-in period.

When driving at low speeds and letting off the throttle the exhaust has an amazing "rumble". I think that's the best way to describe it, it doesn't burble but rather it rumbles instead and it sounds glorious. You can also hear the exhaust from inside the car when the windows are up so that's great. As you climb up the rev range the 'metallic' S55 sound does come through (and it's starting to grow on me) and you get some awesome sounds on upshifts. I can't wait to hear it at 6-7k RPM and when the exhaust has run in a bit more.

I wish I could provide a comparative review, but unfortunately I haven't heard any other systems in-person. I hope this was helpful to some!

My god that is hanging way too low... You now have your own M Performance ad display for anyone driving behind you. I would ask a discount for that kind of advertisement.

My M2C just finished production and is waiting for a ship. I have ordered the MPE as well, and will be installed at the VPC. I think it looks great, and is a massive improvement over the stock, full diaper looking monstrosity.

I will be sure to take plenty of pics and sound clips to post once I get the car.

Are they seriously charging $4500 for the exhaust and $1500 for the tips?? That's ludicrous! That's more expensive than the M4 MPE. And more than $3500 more than the M2 system.

It's the same price as the M4 MPE, and that's at MSRP. If you buy it from MSRP you deserve to be had.

Not on the m performance website. 2020 M4 MPE is $4000. 2020 M2C is $4520. Tips are more expensive for the M2C too. $6012 MSRP for M2C, $5356 for M4. $656 more expensive for M2C over the M4.
