First tank of gas...ouch
I averaged 17 mpg lol. I don't even think I was driving that hard but I will say there were quite a few moments of being parked and the engine was on while I fiddle with iDrive or whatever.
Just filled up with 91, that was a new one in awhile as well. All in all, car brings a smile every time I drive it so it's well worth it. |

Gas mileage? Really? My e60 m5 got about 9 to 11 per gallon. Couldn't have cared less

I get 18-19 combined with my DD Mazda 3 2.5L pre-Skyactiv lol. I'd take 2 less MPG for 235 more hp.

I lately browsed the „normal" 2 series section a bit. Every second post had the words „fuel economy" written somewhere. I didn't see that a single time in the M2 section.
Probably have to google it....

The first and second tank is rough. I was doing an average of 18l/100km. Around the fourth tank the mileage stays at 9.3l/100km. My car is at around 900kms.

After I saw the S55 required two high pressure fuel pumps, I knew it wasn't going to be any Prius..
However, all BMW M cars of the past used to always get hit with a Gas Guzzler tax, in the US.. The S55 is like the first official M motor that was efficient enough to avoid the tax.. So it's actually an improvement for the comparable power.. So be grateful it's improvement.. https://www.bmwblog.com/2010/08/19/b...guzzler-taxes/ |

93 octane is something around 2.25 a gallon in Texas at Costco. I wouldn't worry too much lol.

I haven't reset my trip stuff in 2400 miles of ownership and I'm hovering around 19.6 mpg. It was lower early on, of course, and now that the weather isn't perfect I can't play quite as much. I should reset it now that the car is well broken in.

It isn't really the mileage, it's the fucking fuel tank
I'm not even close to 200 miles a tank. Reminds me of my E92 M3, which also had a stupid 14 gal tank with a V8. The range is really ridiculous. |

If the tank was bigger then people would complain about the weight though
