I am also interested in an option to keep my valves open, or control them on the fly. I noticed someone posted about using the Macht Schnell EVC, which I’ve preciously used in my F80 with great results. However, I’ve been informed that the Macht Schnell EVC controller doesn’t work on the M2C (but does work on the original M2). Does anyone on here have any experience in trying the Macht Schnell unit in the M2C? This would be my preferred option if there’s a way to make it work with the M2C. Thanks guys.

I also notice if you rapidly press the button if you are impatient the screen goes completely blank.

Also - can the same be done for the button down low that tells you if you are approaching a vehicle too quickly? I have the bimmercode app if that helps...

Sorry for the side bar

Edit: I don't think you need to worry about the DC/DC converter as it's probably just for maintaining stable voltage to certain components during auto start/stop. Seeing as it is the most useless feature ever designed in a car I have it completely disabled anyway.

No.

I can control the exhaust valve on my M2C with Carly. One thing that I've noticed is that there is a drone at higher freeway speeds with the valve forced open. This is with the drive setting to efficient to test it. JIC someone cares about that.

Keep in mind, the "fuse mod" causes a communion error in ISTA-D control unit tree i.e. a dealer would 100% know.

So I would not go this route if you care about how it affect your vehicle's related systems or the dealer finding out you tampered with the exhaust.

its so simple to just unplug the exhaust flaps. do it, drive around and experience. if you want it permanent you are all set. If you want control then go with Macht Schnell EVC controller

Activating Sport + mode is probably the easiest way.

My car has a downpipe and exhaust (among other things), so I can hear exactly when the valve is open or closed. Putting my car in Sport+ mode keeps the exhaust valve open effectively all the time. There may be some situations where it doesn't technically keep the valve open (like when the engine is dead cold), but it's open the entire time I'm driving in Sport+ once warmed up.

I turned on my car, set to sport+, blipped the throttle to make sure the flaps were open, then unplugged the valves near the muffler. I also wrapped the harness plugs in electical tape and zip tied to the chassis to ensure they weren't dangling and were waterproof.

For owners who tried this, did you notice an increase in your fuel consumption vs. letting the car open/close automatically?

Well yes, as said before.... Sport+ or any other factory mode does not keep the valves open all the time.

If you want that (100% open all the time) you need to either disconnect (check this before! https://www.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=24181462) when open, buy one of the available third party modules or you can use an app like Bimmerlink.

Do you unplug the valves while the car is running? Does it throw any codes or anything when you do it that way?

See my linked posting above. I did not check logs myself but am sure this will generate some traces

Agreed. If you want it open 100% of the time.

The question was what's the easiest way to keep the valve open. The easiest way to have it open +95% of the time is to just put it in Sport+. Couldn't be easier, and costs nothing. People should understand that this is an option.

It also turns off PARKING ASSISTANT on my F30. Not a good move.

Regarding the MPE on the original M2 and M2 LCI:
  • to keep the valve permanently closed: either don't use the remote control or click the MPE master switch inside the trunk from "I" to "O" position or disconnect the grey cable plug when the valve is in position "closed";
  • to keep the valve permanently open: disconnect the grey cable plug when the valve is in position "open" (disconnection while engine is turning).
The MPE actuator is kind of 'brain dead' when the grey cable plug is disconnected. The valve remains in the last position prior to disconnection. No error codes, no modification - it's as simple like that.

EAS informed you that the Macht Schnell EVC controller doesn't work on the M2 competition?

I've had my connectors unplugged for months now and everything sounds great. The cold start is atrocious though.

One thing I noticed is the car once warmed up does all of the burbles I hate so much, but after a spirited drive and parking the car for maybe 15 min something magical happens...

I get back into the car and start it and immediately notice a MUCH raspier tone. Taking off in 1st slowly sounds AMAZING - very resonant and reminiscent of the S54.
The burbles on decel are completely gone as well.

This period of pure excellence only lasts for a few miles but whatever causes this... I wish I could make it permanent.

Has nobody else experienced this?
