It was an 18 build so it didn't have the latest software lock.

PTF & also a few other tuners bought a M2c but none broke the code to flash through OBD.I came across a face book post advertising a used M2C for sale that had been Open Flash Tunes project car. I reckon they were able to tune, but not through OBD. (I am assuming they bought the latest DME cars?)

After much correspondence between myself & PTF, I finally gave up and pulled my DME and sent to them to unlock. Life’s too short and the S55 responds so well to a tune that I just couldn’t wait any longer. Thinking of going full E85 after a few weeks with stage 1 93 octane. Likely will add downpipes as well. It’s a slippery slope.

Do they have any sort of official presence in this forum besides starting a thread about support? Every time I ask on social media they reply saying they are working on it, but nothing else in the way of progress or updates at all.

Most tuning firms can tune with latest update now, looks like it's just the DIY tuning that does not work.

I like the idea of just doing a simple OEM OTS tune. Gain some easy power. Flash back to OEM if I need to go into service. So BM3 was perfect for what I wanted.

When my warranty is trashed, sure .. why not. But with just over 1200 miles on my car, I really don't feel like ripping apart the top of my motor, and shipping off my ECU for an unknown period of time.

Can't they tell that it had been previously tuned?

Since it doesn't work for me I really have no idea. Probably, if they really wanted to look for a reason to flag my car. But I'm going to be stock, using an OEM tune. /shrug.

I'm sure someone else on here can give more detailed insight.

Maybe I'll just buy a new ECU. Have that sent off, and if I ever have issues I'll just put the one that came with it back in. hehe

I'm not entirely sure that is possible but happy to be corrected. I was under the impression some values like odo is synced between modules in the car. Switching back in the oem ecu may throw the tamper for the odo. The older BMW's would put a dot in the odo cluster.

As far as i know, you can swap the ecu, have to recoding it and the odo will be synchronized as the km usage is stored at least in three modules....

One ecu for tune, and one ecu for not tune.

I think there may be other modules with flash memory that could record overboost etc.

I'm looking at the various free OTS tunes and wanted some clarification:

What is the primary differences between M4 CS/CSL/GTS tunes?
Is there a power jump between each?
Are all 3 less than or greater than the CS+ tune?

I assume the "Stage 0+ (M4 CS)" tune is the de-facto "CS" tune everyone refers to?

Why do people skip the CSL/GTS tunes straight to CS+?

I know this was probably covered somewhere else but any help is appreciated

Edit: I noticed the description of the first tune says "burble at downshift" - can this still be overridden with the ASD off option?

Thanks.

Burbles are not ASD though.

I wouldn't use BM3 for Asd control. Use coding for that.

Burbles are controllable via BM3 map options.

Agree. I'm on CS will be going to CSL next...

Well i have the flaps unplugged and ziptied so turning it off was great. The tune resets everything including the bimmercode stuff I had set.

I only use Sport plus (manual gearbox) and now it auto-blips the throttle on downshift with CS tune?? How do you remove this...

Edit: I see the giant gear icon inside of the actual tune menu. That's the config settings I was looking for. SOLVED. quick response by the ptf guys

Yes. And no more burbles is so relaxing! It's finally how it should have been from the factory

Has there been any updates from PTF? Are they actively investigating a work around to the new encryption? or is that not a priority for them?

I messaged their CS last week, and they responded saying they are working on it, and to follow social media for updates.

They are not being very transparent at all with their progress. From a social media perspective, they seem entirely focused on the new Z4/Supra and X# platforms, and seem to be content with bench tuning the latest M2C revision.

It would be nice if someone from PTF would jump into this thread and shed some light on their progress.
