BMW won't revert software, in fact they will probably do even more updates... Their 1st action to to fix anything is update all software, even if it's plainly nothing to do with that. On my 335i they were updating idrive to try and fix a high pressure fuel pump mechanical fault! |

Do you have bimmercode app or a Bluetooth ODB plug?
Those plugs come bundled with basic fault reader apps, not as good as full BMW diagnostics but it will at least tell you what it is and you can reset it if its nothing to worry about and see if it comes back. ...or take your chances with BMW. Which remus exhaust did you fit? OPF back or OPF delete? |

I have the OPF back, didn't know remus did the mid pipes yet. Yeah I have bimmercode, completly forgot, I coded my M5 with that.
Anyway, bmw have it now I spoke to the "master tech" he said nothing was done to my car apart from RIS. No software etc was updated?? |

Can't see how exhaust could cause CEL unless the fitters did something.
Run in service they won't usually update anything in UK as they don't get paid for that unless its part of a warranty fix for something. But BMW will 99% sure update it this time as it's presented with a fault and procedure is update all first. Are you planning to use BM3 on your M2C? |

Ahh OK. Personally I never believe what the dealer says, they just make it up as they go along...
If you connect with BM3 it will show you the version of the car and I think DME s/w version. If you get that you can see if its been done. Last edited by doughboy; 06-20-2019 at 07:44 AM.. |

Is it the race remus?
Very odd it would trigger OPF. I've got OPF removed and replaced with 200 CELL cats and a full milltek and my CEL hasn't come on! Although I gather the update was to do with OPF pressure callibration changes so maybe they made it much more sensitive? Perhaps tell them you'll get it sorted elsewhere, give you some time to look into it... No limp mode then, just CEL? Other owners (MR in particular) report full on Limp mode when OPF fault detected. Some 240i owners report a few weeks before OPF CEL comes up, if you have a BT OBD dongle then check it is OPF and just clear it for another few weeks. Get BM3 on it and post up the fault codes if you like... Last edited by doughboy; 06-20-2019 at 10:30 AM.. |

Yes mate, Remus race:
https://clptuning.co.uk/product/remu...2-competition/ Just erased the codes using a cheap app, bunch of ppf bank 1 etc, light has gone off for now. Hoping maybe a tune will fix this, the stock backbox isn't going back on anyway!!! |

It sounds almost exactly like stock to me though and looking back i should have left the stock one on. Spoken to the guys who supplied and fitted it and they tell me it shouldn't trigger the CEL and they will get back to me in the morning about it. |

Check your local tuners(not bootmod3 resellers). Cars with newest software are tunable but they require direct connection to DME(this method doesn't require removing and opening DME, it's not like old bench flash) instead OBD.

Couldn't wait. I had a few hours chore free yesterday so I put on the CS tune via BM3.
Worked like a charm, also turned OFF burbles in Sport and turn UP burbles in Sport +. Turned off rev match in Sport + too. Only drove 15/20 mins and it poured with rain, but feels much better. No burbles in Sport - hooray! Also I did 1 unlock and 2 subsequent flashes all using different cheap £5 USB to ENET adaptors, no problems. Checked after with ISTA BMW diagnostics, all clear. Taking it fairly steady till crank bolt capture goes on this Wednesday.... |
