But no one says M2 competition has more weight 45kg on front , more CO2 emision , more fuel consumption , ugly wheels and front grill, discontinued color mineral grey metallic , and seats + big brakes is optional extra cost.
You know why?

Because the weight wasn't felt during all the reviews..

Nobody cares about emissions, half of us here are already planning modifying full exhaust..

Fuel consumption? You want MPGs go get an electric car, I have never worried about MPGs on a sports car.

Wheels, Grill are not ugly.. it's all subjective.. you don't like it? Other people do..

I never cared about Mineral Gray..

Better seats and big brakes come standard in USA..

Couldn't have said it better myself!
This is most definitely my next car, can't wait to see what numbers people are getting with dp and tune.
Upgraded heat exchanger, downpipes and tune and you are in the 500whp range.
Exactly! It's the main reason I waited for this car, I could never see the justification in trading my 235 for an og m2. M good friend has one, and it's amazing, I love it! But with my jb4 and bolts ons I absolutely smoke him! (Oh yeah and e85) lol

On a straight line maybe, but see how far behind you are after 2-3 laps on a full track

My 135i could keep up on a straight with a stock M2, but I could never lap on a track at the same pace in it!

I've done two separate M2 test drives, it always felt slow. Never had the punch or thrust through rev range of the F80. Now that M2 has all the right bits, going to pull the trigger.

Upgraded heat exchanger is not need for 500whp. I seen tuned F8x M3/M4 go all day in 90+ ambient temps. i wouldn't worry about cooling until you start getting to the big boys...which are running 700whp+.

Go for it and go hard. There won't be (m)any more of these made than the OG M2. Any M2 is a collector item, and I expect production to continue to amble along while the M4 is made (and leased ) in much higher volume.

BMW will continue to sell M2 sizzle and M4 volume.

Isn't the M2C with the DCT technically heavier than an M4 with the DCT? This is what I heard a while back.

I'm sure in a proper track yeah he would've left me behind, but on windy roads I got far enough away from him in the straights that he couldn't catch up on the turns (at least not enough) also he's had it for a couple of months so I know he's still being careful with it and is not pushing it like I push my car that I've had for almost 3 years. I know my car like the back of my hand and know how much I can and can't push. He is not there yet. But once I get my comp that will be another story. Ban when you get yours I will come visit you. I'm in SOFLO and want to see it, ride in it before deciding between an f80 and the f87comp. I almost picked an m3 up in December but I had to wait for this.
I got impatient when I got the 235 months before I could've gotten the m2. This time I'm waiting lol

I think both the MT and DCT M2C are heavier than the M4.

Not needed to MAKE the power, but it doesn't hurt to have specially in Florida so when I am actually tracking the car the heat soak allows me to still have the 500 on tap and not have the DME pulling back on power.

Yeah! Where we live we need all the cooling we can get. Especially in the summer. I know I'm down on power for a few months out of the year.

Possibly because it's not a race car despite what BMW marketing espouses. There's also no harness, roll cage etc. Also imagine the logistics of producing 1 model on a production line with different brake fluid, dealer logistics etc. probably not worth it. Easier for you to drain and refill.

It's a great sports car for public streets. And is a good base to be taken to the next level.
Not a race car? I never knew

It is also illegal to 155mph in most countries on the road but it still does And where you can do that speed I want brakes to work effectively! Not become spongey after a few high speed brake moments or country road runs cheers.

BMW makes cars for the masses. You need to update it and accessorize it etc to make it suitable for yourself. They have some degree of customization, but not 100%.

Thanks for the video. So far i think Schmee has the best video review. I like how he goes into detail about all the little details without trying to make it sound more convoluted that it really is. Also i don't remember those brakes in the rear being on an e92 m3, could somebody clarify? thanks!

So is a slightly used M4 a better car (perhaps not handling wise but overall for what you get in terms of options and power) than an M2C for the same price?

BMW uses DOT4 brake fluid which is a great choice for mixed street/canyon/track driving. A lot of other performance-oriented cars (mainly American I’ve noticed) still come with DOT3 and have to mention in the manual that you should put DOT4 in for track use. I’m going from memory but I believe the current Corvette is like that.

I don’t know where comments like this always come from but the ONLY car company whose factory stock cars are better suited for track duty is Porsche. I work at a shop that works on all brands of cars and does a lot of track prep and setup and in my opinion, out-of-the-box M cars are phenomenal on track when everything is considered. That’s why I’m going for an M2 Competition for myself, putting my money where my mouth is. Going back to the Corvette Z06 as an example you’re even supposed to change the oil to 15w-50 for the track and then change it back to 5w-30 immediately afterwards for street use. Anyone who wondered how a Nissan GTR could beat the 997 Porsche Turbo for “so much less money” when the GTR came out should look at the GTR owners manual to see how much you need to spend every 3,000 miles to change out engine oil, transmission fluid, F&R diff fluids, etc if you do track the car or get it hot. Hint: the OEM transmission fluid by itself was $900 back then and is still around $600 today. Needs to be changed every 3k miles if it gets above 248 degrees F which is almost as easy to exceed as an M2’s brake fluid is to overheat in stock form.

Brake fluid that can withstand higher temps also tends to absorb moisture more quickly and should be bled or flushed more often. 95+% of M car buyers don’t want to flush their fluid every 6 months or bleed it after every 1 or 2 track events like you should with a higher end race fluid. For those of us who track or even push the car hard enough to outpace the factory fluid, we can spend literally $30 or less for Motul RBF600 or whatever else is preferred and a max 1 hour labor if a shop is doing the flush. If you’re getting the brakes that hot, you should also invest in up-rated pads since all street pads are prone to leaving deposits on rotors when they get too hot.

But do they turn green?

All jokes aside, as mentioned above fluid change always helps tremendously. Swap out for some track pads for real heavy work.

I find the .co.za review about the putting down the power the most informative so far instead of 'it has moaaarRRR POOWWAAAHHH' type reviews we are getting.

They go onto say they prefer the delivery of the OG M2/LCi

Sort of what I feared for the new car but overall reviews are positive overwhelmingly.

Probably sad that I read and watched 95% of them last night. What I got is that they made a great car even better. Even though the reviews are very positive, they complain about exhaust note (as expected) and I didn't quite read that this is a must have. Was a little disappointed about that. I look forward to seeing and driving one and make up my own mind I suppose.
