Question Baltimore port status end of August 2019

Anyone heard anything about operations at the Baltimore port, BMW's throughput at the prep center there seems slow? I've had a car there for nine days now...

Are you having any performance parts installed at port?

Took my M2C about 4-5 days in port of Baltimore before it got turned over to the trucking company, then another 2-3 days before the truck got on the road. The tracking website doesn't really help, and I was piecing together info from my sales rep and BMW Genius who had more details (I was going to be tied up with work the following week, so we were trying to nail down a delivery date). If I had only gone by the BMW website, it would have been at the port for 7-8 days and a complete mystery.

I didn't ask for any parts installed, but the dealer defaults to adding wheel locks to their ordered cars, which is a port option. Pretty sure the initial delay was because the car had to get in a queue for the wheel lock install. Other folks on the same ship with no accessories only sat in port for 2-3 days. The trucking company may wait to line up a proper shipment on their truck for efficient routes, so that may cause additional delays after the car leaves port but before it gets on the road to you.

If there is damage and the car needs repair, then you'll be sitting at port much longer, probably at least 2-3-4 weeks. People worry about this, but for short delays under 2 weeks it's rarely the cause.

The dealer can get more detailed tracking info, and look at work orders on the vehicle, and give you better information.

Mine is currently there as well. Not sure what their work schedule is like but with the Labor Day weekend in effect, I'm not really sure who will be at work (or even if they work weekends). I was half tempted to ride up there and have a peek around .

I'm waiting as well, and tbh I'm worried about what's going on. Dropped my M2 off in Munich after ED in June 1. They tell me it got to Baltimore July 30 and since then I've been told they are waiting on a part necessary for the break in service. I did order the spoiler and diffuser but a month seems like a really long time...

I finally got my car.

Seems like, in my case, it was just one of those things that happens with no specific cause.

Mine is still at the VPC, so I just wait. The Connected App has shown some interesting things though. I think the VPC just went ahead and did the 1200 mile service. Besides that it has a work order begun of 08/28

Nope, the worst part is that it just has Work Order started from 08/28 without an update. All I could think of was that the labor day weekend might have delayed processing but beyond that, I don't really have much else to go off of.

The customer relation number just has that the work order started. Wondering how long I should wait before, going over to dealer and asking about the delays (not sure what's normal/not_normal) about this process.

I think they might have also done the first service but I feel like that's not enough to justify the delay.

Anyone with inside info?
