Opinions on X-Pel PPF install (pics)?
I imagine it can be difficult to cover the front bumper of the M2C, given all of the angles, but some of this looks pretty amateur to me.
This is my first time having PPF installed, so I'm trying to understand what I should expect. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks!! |

That is pretty bad.
I had suntek installed on my full front end you couldn’t even tell it’s there. Edges were wrapped. I wouldn’t be happy with your install. |

That is horrible. It should be invisible (edges wrapped, no open areas, and no seams). All those open areas a susceptible to rock chips. Make them redo it.

I anticipate that the shop is going to say the application issues are due to the thickness of Xpel compared to Suntek.
Is that true or should a competent shop be able to perform a seamless install with Xpel as well? |

I believe the shop is competent. The issue here is they haven't taken the time to protect the requisite areas which are prone to impacts. These areas rushed based on the erratic cuts rather than scoring the area then cutting so it follows the contour. For me, it's not a discussion of why it currently looks this way but rather that these areas should be protected.
Our installer walked us around the car and pointed out every area that was difficult and encouraged us to bring it back if it had problems in the future. Hope that helps, Monika |

I've seen plenty of M2s protected with PPF. Brand doesn't matter. This shop is completely INCOMPETENT if they released the car back to you in that condition.
It can be invisible on the M2. |

Welcome to my world and I am sorry you are dealing with the same issue I had. I had my entire front done by an xpel dealer that was subleted by the dealer. When I recieved the car back it had alot of the same issues yours have and I freaked! I had then redo it 3 times and it is still no where near the quality that another xpel dealer does as I had them do my rear quarters. These cars can definitely be wrapped with no visible seams or cuts. Those issues are coming because the installer is using a template to cut the material and then applying rather than laying one big sheet on the front bumper and working from there. Chances are if you recieved this outcome then the shop is not capable of applying it correctly and your screwed.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.
I took the car over to the installer and they stated that the new M2 Competition front bumper is much more complicated than the one of the OG M2 which is why there are visible seams, etc. They stated that it would look much worse if they used the templated film direct from Xpel and that they pride themselves on the custom work of hand cutting the film to fit the bumper. They will try a couple of things next week, but I'm not very optimistic that they are able to do much better. I'm quite disappointed I invested so much money with them. I suppose if I push hard enough they can redo the front bumper, but will it look any better? |

I've never had or seen a proper PPF install so I can't really tell you if mine is a perfect example. |

Sorry OP but this is terrible work. Personally seeing how shoddy this is I would not be confident that they could improve if given a chance to do it again. I would ask for my money back and go somewhere else.

Thank you so much for the photos. The lines on your install appear smoother and the seams much tighter. I will discuss with my installer on Wednesday. |
