I ordered pre-pandemic in March, had a place in the production line and then had to start over after factory started up again.
I had to wait a few weeks after delivery to the dealership (Baltimore) for a ride (covered 2 car trailer) out west. TBH I would have been 100% surprised if absolutely nothing happened with shipping and I'd prefer a wheel scrape to some sort of body panel stuff. I have the shipping company insurance info. I sent them an email yesterday hoping to avoid a phone call, but yeah, I guess I'll have to call to see how to handle it. Thanks and exactly 0% buyers remorse |

I found this forum after I'd started the purchase but I used a car broker (Automatch Consulting) to get in touch with a specific sales person that sells a lot of M cars (I'm not sure what the rules are/aren't on naming a specific person or a website, I'll share his info if anyone wants it or if it's OK to post).
There was a shipping logistics person that the salesperson used and that person found an enclosed truck (via Global Logistic Auto Group) to bring my car to NV. Yeah, I have a mild wheel rash but TBH, shit happens as they say and I'm not even worried that it'll get fixed. We all worry about that 1st scratch and I already got mine so that's one less thing to worry about. I made sure that my salesperson in MD knew that I was in NV and I'd need some help finding a shipper so I just went with whatever they used. I'd read to expect about $1/mile for enclosed shipping but it ended up being $2K plus tip for 2 drivers. |

Some more good news!
I just found out that my car is on the ship, and on the way home. Expected arrival to the NJ port is on 11/10/20, so I should probably see it a week to ten days after that. It's a far cry from the 6 to 8 weeks that the dealer told me (closer to 20 weeks), but that's ok. I can't wait! |

How long were you waiting once your car got put on the ship? Looks like mine just got on the ship a few days ago. |

Good news!
My car showed up at the dealer today. I didn't expect it because it showed up at the port 4:00 am on 11/9/20. I didn't think it would take only 2 days, I expected at least 5 to 10 days. So basically 5 months from order to delivery. Here she is! |

Congrats and enjoy the car! amazing it made it to dealer so fast from VPC. Gave me hope I could pickup m2 from dealership today, on my birthday, as boat docked Tuesday morning in Bayonne NJ. No word from dealership but hopefully soon.

Call up the BMW help center, and ask which ship it's on, then track it on marinetraffic.com |

Yes! I picked it up on Friday 11/13.
I prepped it myself on Saturday, lol. I told the dealer to leave all the plastics on it. I have about 135 miles on it, and so far I love it. It’s a little torturous driving it gently for break in, but it’s probably a good idea so I can focus on learning all the technology stuff anyway. |

Due to COVID looks like I'm getting my M2C shipped to my house instead of driving 400 miles to pick it up. I asked the dealer to leave the white protective film on when he ships it to me. Is this something I can remove myself by just gently pulling it off?
I'm also planning on getting the car ceramic coated, perhaps I'm better off just leaving the film on and driving it to the ceramic coating place to have them do it.

Getting my car wrapped. The PPF guy and dealer both said to leave shipping film on. The detailer said he would take it from there.
Might get a few odd looks... |

Since you are doing ceramic coating, you might as well have the detailer take everything off. It’s easy, it only took me about 15 minutes to take all the plastics off of the interior and exterior. |
