I also placed an "order" with my dealer back in May. Unfortunately, they don't have an allocation, but said they are expecting one. Honestly, I don't expect to hear anything until maybe closer to end of July when production of 2020 ends.

I spoke with my dealer last week and they said they don't see any orders opening up for '21. Which makes sense as on the forums, it seems to be for people who are doing ED, that are getting priority as well as people who originally ordered a '20, that will be flipped to '21.

Let the waiting continue...

With the exception of 2020s being converted to 2021s and ED, has anyone placed an order for a 2021 with a confirmed build date? Calling around many large dealers, none seem to have confirmed allocations.

I got mine confirmed last Friday. One other got his today and another was also late last week. All of us have ED reservations.

I didn't opt for ED. But my dealer texted today saying they can put me in the system to secure a chassis number. I requested the build back in early May. However, my CA also informed me that all accessory options will be finalized later. Not sure how securing a chassis differs from fully securing an allocation and adding all my options to confirm. I'm hoping to receive the final build to sign, tomorrow.

As F82PRETEND mentioned. They seem to be prioritizing all European and ED builds. Makes sense for ED since they need to get every car built and out the door before the end of September ED deadline.

Indeed, though we may still not be able to actually go get them!

I ordered a 2021. It's not ED. My understanding is that BMW is taking orders for 2021 if priority 1/customer sold.

Just got my production number today and status 112. Scheduled for production 7/28/20.

Interestingly, my dealer was unable to add my CF accessories yet. He said he can only add when the system allows. Not sure why that is the case? Maybe because it is port installed, it can be added into the system after it is built? Who knows...

Also interesting story. I had a previous dealer contact me today and they said just received an allocation and their production is 7/28 as well. I wonder if today opens the allocation on US non-ED orders. And the earliest build is week of 28.

This is good news! Hopefully I receive my production number this week as my dealer has had my order in their system for about a week now. My dealer also said the same thing about accessories. I opted for the performance steering wheel and he said he cannot add it till later.

Are you doing ED? If you are doing ED you cannot add M Performance parts to your order/sticker to be installed at port. They have to be a separate transaction and will have to be installed at the dealer.

I am doing US Delivery and confirmed with my dealer my M performance parts will be installed once it arrives at Port. However, the question is when my dealer can add M- Performance parts onto my order, in the system.

The goal is to have the M-performance parts added on the Monroney, when it is printed at Port.

Yeah, I was just flagging that if you are doing ED, that's why the system won't let him do it.

Since it's US delivery, he should be able to do it, unless BMWNA has put a hold on port installed options which happens sometimes due to lack of supply or resources.

Yes, I have a production number, and as of 6/12, I have a VIN!

Interesting update for my car. It got assigned a VIN and online it says production begins? I thought the 21's were starting in July? Awaiting confirmation from the dealer.

Thoughts?

Another update for anyone curious. I called BMWNA to discuss. My 2021 went into production today, scheduled completion date of June 30th. This is a month early as far as I've heard in past production years?

My 2021 started production last Friday per my dealer and BMW. Completion date is scheduled for 6/26. It is earlier than most years, but it's not unheard of. I still own my 2007 530xi with 6mt that was delivered in May, 2006.

For both your cases, what was the originally scheduled production date? We're both moved up?

I never got an official date. It always said "scheduled for production with no confirmed production date" and the date was blank on the order screen from my dealer. Never got clarification.

I'm curious if with the continued German tourist restrictions and ED dates getting pushed back maybe they are shuffling non ED orders forward?

My CA just texted me stating that "Somehow or another I got another allotment for m2 if you know anybody else."

Feel free to message me if you're interested. It still can be custom configured.

Mine just reached out to me from a place in Austin. Problem is that they can only do $1500 off MSRP. I just can't find it in my heart to cut a check for a number above $60k. Did you get something better, or just biting the bullet?
