I was actually really excited for the Miata, basically built ground up as a fun sports car. I know...first world problems right now.

But I'm sure I will have similar amounts of fun with the M2C. Will definitely be doing PCD, so the experience and memories will be strong with this one...

Now just debating color. Was originally going for HS, but now LBB and SO are also great contenders.

Oh man i saw your post about cancelling the ND order in the M2C section. I'm sure you will enjoy the M2C as well. If you move out to SF send me a ping! I live in the SF Bay Area as well and can show you our lovely traffic jams along some of the best roads to drive lol.

I'll be getting my M2C this friday and i've been giddy with excitement ever since.

Early congrats! You will definitely love it! Be sure to show us some pics!

I just reached out to a few dealers with my offer. However, I also heard that there may be some improvements coming with MY21. So not sure if I should hold out or just pull the trigger now.

Yeah i was in the same place, not sure if i should wait. However it just worked out better for me to get it now, and plus i cant imagine there would be many improvements over the 2020 model that would make me want to wait and then deal with the potential markup that it will get once the 2021 MY hits.

What he said.

That's what I'm waiting for my 2020 to get on the boat as opposed to waiting for a 2021.

Ugh, i'm so jealous of your driving roads down there in the Bay. My dad lives up in the hills of Berkeley, and while the front of those hills is filled with houses, the backside is full of twisty roads without any driveways or anything.

Every time I visit him I think "Man, i should really drive down here instead of fly"

Up in Seattle, i'll literally drive 3+ hours to get to those top tier level driving roads.

Honestly if it werent for these few roads over here, being a car enthusiast in the Bay Area would be a nightmare. But you definetly should drive down here one of these days. So many scenic drives and a few really nice mountain runs as well, all within an hour of East Bay. Perfect for our cars.

I was set on the M2C but then I drove my friends NA and that's easily the most fun I've ever had in a car. Got me seriously considering an ND : I wish the shifter on the M2C was better. I expected it to be better than my Mazda 3 but I was so disappointed.

Besides wind noise, and assuming I don't need a lot of trunk space, is there any difference in DD ability between the two?

Glad you enjoyed the NA!

In terms of DD, there are some differences...

1. If you do long highway commutes, especially when it is windy, you do feel more stability with the M2C

2. M2C is more luxurious feeling and a step above in quality. That's not to say the ND is bad, just more plastic, potentially due to cost and weight savings

3. Visibility is slightly worse on the ND, so if you drive with a lot of traffic, be mindful and due to the ND's size, many drivers don't notice you as well

Overall, both can be great DDs. However, if I have a lot of highway driving, I probably wouldn't take the ND as it may be kinda boring

Pretty much all of this. My roommate DD her ND and she loves it. However if you compare that to my M2C, My M2 is SO much more comfy. Not to say the ND isnt, but it just different.

I will have to say though having the option to go top down in the warm California sun is an experience unlike any other. its really why i love having my S2000 as well as my M2C.

That is the perfect setup! M2C and a convertible sports car!

I'm hoping when I need two cars I can get a Miata and that would be the dream!

Let's see some shots of them both!

Keep the tracked prepped M2 + 718 Boxster GTS for outings and fun in the sun would be so perfect.

I had a ND1 RF before switching to the M2C. I still love that car but I needed something a bit more usable. Then I bought a NC1 and I've been modding on the cheap. For less than 1/3 the price of a ND my NC drives way better than an ND and I still get to keep the M2. The NC is my track oriented project car while the M2 is my weekend car with some track time.

The NC is really turning into a modders dream. Especially compared to the ND. Lots of vendor support still, and best of all lots of products for power with more coming soon. In fact Flying Miata just recently let slip that they'll be releasing a CARB legal turbo kit for the NC soon.

Thank you! I abolutley love both cars, they both scratch every itch i have when it comes to cars between the two. Honestly i've never been more satisfied with my current car situation than right now. I've always been the one to always look to the next project even right after starting a new one (its why i went through so many cars in the past 4 years) but this is the first time where i havnt actively browsed for a new car project in a long time. There was always something else that i wanted, to scratch a specific itch. But all my itches are being scratched and its a great feeling.

I get that but a Boxter is like a spiritual combo of the both.

Its a lot less practical though. The M2C can easily double as track/daily duty while having the ability to carry 4 people.

Honestly though i recommend the S2000 so heavily. Its not much slower than a Boxster, its a hell of a lot more reliable, and currently values are rising on the car. Ok sure it doesnt have all the fancy features that new cars have. But you can find one for a fraction of the price of a Boxster, make it a weekend car and know its going to last you till 400,000 miles.

If you are going to go with just having one car, then the M2C is just the ticket due to its flexibility. I lived with my S2000 as my one and only vehicle for a year and it did present some challenges for sure.

Base ND Miata + Used M235/40 (or another practical vehicle)

Best of both worlds.
