Here's more of Sunset Orange at the Tail of the Dragon, Blue Ridge Parkway and other TN & NC highways.

Aeroglava, did you get your wheels painted?

I'm curious about the process. Is it just a simple spray over the current surface or does the old paint get stripped first? Can this be done DIY or is it better left to professional painters?

Thanks.

Normally I like the brown bomber with the dark wheels but this looks superb.

That's a modern iPhone as camera isn't it? They seem to do a special thing with the bi-colour 788s. Sort of a hot wheels thing that always looks so good.

I used a Nikon D5500 for the photos.

That looks amazing!
Is that with the BMW recommended height settings?

BMW doesn't have a height recommendation, instead they provide compression and rebound values - and I do have these values.

Although it drives much better than stock as it is, I'm still not 100% happy with the setup and will improve it with someone else other than BMW. Will do this likely in July, since first I have a trackday and then I'll try to get my rear dampers replaced under warranty, since they're making odd noises from time to time (it's apparently a common issue, luck of the draw).

So you went with -20mm... or -15mm?

Just curious because the stance looks perfect.

Thank you!

To your question: I am not sure what the standard height was, I know it now is 60,5-61 cm from the lower edge of the rim to the fender. Hope this helps

In Idaho of all places. Some sort of submarine testing facility there. Weird.

Nice photo of your car. Any chance of furlough for you?

Chance? Yes.

Hopefully not. We just announced 2250 furloughs starting 1 Oct. I'm at 45% on The List (~5800/13400), so I should be good for a while.

Got Displaced out of the left seat of the Guppy in DEN, am currently holding right seat 787 in DEN, will get bumped on the next displacement and will end up right seat 777 in SFO, will get bumped off of that and will eventually end up either in the right seat of Da Boos or the Guppy. Most likely the Guppy.

It's a Bad Time to be an airline pilot.

On the plus side? Road Trips. Did Denver to Sacramento to San Jose (to get a Carbahn tune) to Portland to Tacoma, over four mountain passes in Idaho and back home in the M2C. With LOTS of twisty roads (I *really* recommend Butler Motorcycle Maps), a day in Napa, a party for my wife's 50th, a week with my dad, and lunch with my wife in Telluride (she flew in and I met her) last week-- I was gone for three weeks. It was a BLAST.

Going to take four days to ride my "other" BMW (a R1200GS-LC) from Denver to Gig Harbor, WA, spend another week up there, and then four (or more) days to wander home at the end of the month.

I've got a ride around Lake Superior planned out, but I can't go until the Canadians unlock the border-- and who knows when that'll happen.

Probably won't fly again until late Sept/Oct.

R.

I just got my M performance coilovers installed. The front looks great, just like your car. However, the rear is slightly higher than yours.

Did you have some settling in the rears?

Can't you lower the rear more? I could go even lower with mine.

I saw the spec sheet from the BMW dealer, and the tech set the height to about 5mm higher than I requested in the rear.

So, I will just take it back and have them adjust it lower. Thanks.
