Haha I know. What I have left in my car is ridiculous. I don't even think that flimsy brace before cutting it up was doing anything.

A friend of mine runs his car competitively in the British time attack series and doesn't use the brace at all and swears it is no different

The OPs original post pretty much sums up about 90% of what you need to know.

Here are the answers to what he's missing.

You need to remove the lower plastic pieces that are vertical on the sides of the IC tank. You also ditch the lower IC shroud completely. The vertical pieces kinda attach to that and then clip into the upper frame rail and the upper duct.

The piping- the white lettering faces the front bumper.

The vacuum line. I didn't want to just crank it around to the new angle needed to meet the Wagner pipe so I slowly heated it with a heat gun and twisted it where I wanted it. Off the car.

The IC bolts that connect to the bumper bar. Get yourselves to aluminum tube stock or a pipe, cut it at 2.25" and it's a perfect spacer between the IC and bumper bar. This will really make things rigid and solid. Sorry OP but how you have those bolts isn't doing a hole lot for support.
I wanted my IC to have like zero flex.

You HAVE to get the 235 v bar thing. And cut the shit out of your stock m2 brace to make little vertical lower braces. I used a 4" cut off wheel and flapper wheel. Made quick work of the aluminum.

Also need 3/4" long bolts to bolt the 235 back to the frame rails.

I think that's everything. Personally I though it was Pretty easy to do everything with the bumper off. Definitely make sure you have a good amount of tools and are handy with cars!
Any added lag with the Evo3?

I noticed that lag was less when going from the Evo2 to the Evo3. Likely due to the custom larger IC inlet/outlet and pipes with the Evo3

Wagner's pressure drop charts also show this.

running the evo 3 as well for my big turbo M2 setup and the car is running great. I had to get the brace modified to fit, other than that, no issues for the fitment

I'm sure people just want it for the aesthetics, I figured it didn't do much to performance. my modified brace feels no difference either from before

Chassis ridgity doesn’t actually make the car ‘quicker’ I remember searching and reading anything I could find about it - nada. The benefit was allowing ‘sharper’ response because whatever portion of the body being braced was less likely to flex and bend with suspension- basically changing the geometry ever so slightly.

On a NA/B Miata I can see this being something tangible, on a modern fixed roof coupe, not really.

currently away from the car since I had to evacuate Tampa but I can try to get some. how do I share on Bimmerpost. I've sent logs to my tuner and I'm assuming I just share a link of a 4th gear WOT.

I thought it came with one? And yes, that should be all you need, but get the bolts.

Alternatively, you can cut your stock one.
