Thinking the locking bars on the outside are more to keep you from reaching through the jacks to release the bar. Nothing really to do with the safety of the jacks themself.

I also use the jack both ways, depending on which way I want the car to be lifted. to the front or to the back of the garage.

Mine lifts more than just the BMWs.

If you're a costco member, they're on sale today for $1049 delivered.

I have just assembled my quickjack 5000.

When testing it without any weight applied in position one there is some side to side movement between the jack top and base on one of the jacks.

Is this normal?

Lightbulb On sale at Costco thru Feb 25th, 2024

I've just noticed that the QuickJack 5000TL (which works quite nicely for the M2/M2C) bundle is $300 off at Costco thru Feb 25th:
https://www.costco.com/quickjack-500...100833721.html

The bundle includes the lifts, wall hooks for storing the QuickJack lifts when not in use, and additional pinch weld blocks for cars with that type of lift point. (Regular rubber blocks that can be used with the M2's style of lift point are included by default.)

I got my QuickJack lifts in summer 2022 via a Costco deal like this. It's been a key part of my DIY maintenance success.
