VRSF HD core stepped street FMIC

So the updated VRSF Stepped Street FMIC with the hd core has arrived in my hands and I have done the unboxing. I should get to the install tomorrow or this weekend. Right now I will start off with the comparison to the previous version and factory. The DIY and comparison between the old version and stock can be found here:
http://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1470641

Once installed I will be doing full testing of it with my current tune platform BM3 both 93 & E30 mix and post info here.

So this replaces the previous core IC so it is the std going forward and priced the same as the previous version $379 The quality is wonderful and on par with the previous IC I received from them, good welds, coating, core looks good and tight...big increase over the previous version I must say. And the packing is good and protecting. And to remind everyone this in a direct drop in swap for the factory IC, no modifications are needed.

Weights are

Stock 7.2
Old core 17.4
New HD core 18.2

So the new core has added .8 of a pound to the overall weight

Pics..... 1st pic is Tiago's side by side shot of old vs new, 2nd is the original core I installed and the rest are of the new version I will put in.

More info to follow soon

Got it in last night and took a comparison of the two side by side but cannot capture the density the way Tiago did but it is much denser.....

Hope to get some logs this weekend..... if the rain holds up

Nice! Looking forward to the performance results.

Did you have any installation issues with the tabs like this guy did?

The tab issue has been resolved. Slight issue with clearances which takes less than 10 minutes to repair.

Will be fixed on the next batch.

Yes it was a small issue but since I didn't have the tools to properly cut them down and remove material on the other side I just bent them flat and zip tied them to the fam shroud. problem solved Not the fanciest but worked, you cannot see it and it is quite secure

On mine I would have had to cut the one side tab off the grind a little of the other side off and some of the top for it to go up in based on my pre-measurements. Could be modified later

So how'd it go with the newer version of their intercooler?

I know it was sold but I think the use case was more everyone extreme than most people.
