Drive it like it's stolen and paid for by someone else.

Had the same issue with mine. The dealer sent videos to BMW and they said it was "normal." They kept it for a day and were able to do something to "quiet" it down a little bit, but it still rattles. I've just learned to live with it.

I have an LCI. I've only heard the rattle once and it was for half a second.

Open the valve with the door open. It was the only time I ever heard it.

My MPE only rattled on start up if the valve was open. I got in the habit of turning on the car in comfort mode and closed valve, leaving the neighborhood then opening everything up.

There is a number of YouTube videos of M2 cold start and no rattle.

I have version 2 with the red button. I will let you know how it goes. It only happens on cold start so don't let that put you off, the MPE is amazing

The M2 MPE is a joke

Between the 3000 rpm drone, cold start rattle and the red button in the trunk (for the europeans), I'm amazed people are still buying it. So many better options out there for similar money.

The similar exhausts don't sound as grunty in my opinion, and mainly people buy them for the factory warranty.

I have the LCI US version MPE and it doesn’t rattle. Something I have noticed during cold starts is sometimes the whole rear end feels like it’s shimmying for a couple of seconds.

I total agree, i don't like molested cars with all different custom parts. I think the carbon tips blow any other brand away.

I need the factory warranty, Also I have to hear it in person if the drone is really horrible. Fellow member mentioned you can code it out? I have to meet up with someone with a m2 here in NJ to hear it for myself before i make the decision.

This is a very very well known issue, just search some.

Basically, the exhaust rubs against a bracket located about in the center of the car. The clamp tends to come loose as well. After a few visits to the dealer, I had my performance shop just weld it. Done!

Only lasts about 8 seconds in cold temps..... does the same thing on M3/M4's and is very dependent on what the temperature is. Cold start = a little rattle. Does not bother me.
