Not all USAA memberships are equal
So I figured out why I can't "activate" the 2K offer code. My USAA membership is not blue-blood enough.
Even though I qualified for, and established my membership because my father served in the Navy, it isn't a membership that is "good enough" to take advantage of the car buying perks. To be "good enough", my membership would have had to have been established through the process of my father "handing it down" to me - something done through his USAA account apparently. That could have been easily done 6 years ago, but he passed away 6 years ago, and according to the USAA rep, it can't be "handed down" to me posthumously. Seems kinda chickenshit to me, but those are the rules. Too bad - cuz that was indeed a nice perk. |

When I was trying to get it the site said my dealership was not part of the authorized dealers and so I would not qualify. It was a bit disappointing that a dealer would be excluded. We even have a large AF base near by.

Call the dealer and ask. I used the USAA car buying service but i actually ordered from a dealer that had two allocations available, which wasn't the dealer that USAA referred me to. The dealers that came up on USAA did not have any allocations. The dealer i purchased from said it's not an issue. They told me to just print the certificate out anyway and they'll honor it. Haven't actually used it yet but the salesman i have been working said it will not be an issue.

Since you're one of the few US LCI's that has been delivered what headlights did you get and did you spec out the exec package? |

My wife is eligible and has the USAA discount voucher in her name. Does she have to be the one titled, loan, and purchasing the car? Or as her spouse, can everything be in my name and her certificate can be applied? Dealer ok with that?

If your wife is a member you are also eligible to become one. I was in the same situation. And the incentive must be in your name as stated in the disclaimer.

For some reason when I go to print the voucher, it does not activate the code. I think it has to do with the fact that my wife is USAA eligible through her father (direct relative). Whereas I'm a member through her as spouse. Maybe being designated as son/son-in-law from her Father would trigger it?

Hmm I'm able to generate a code and I'm also a member through my spouse. My father in-law has not designated me as son-in-law. I would just give USAA a call, you don't want to lose out on an extra 2k in savings. |
