Sport cats

Since the gamble of voiding my warranty by going catless DP isn't an option I've been looking at DPs with sport cats. Specifically, a HJS 200-cell metallic cat. Does this keep the car emissions legal? Warranty implications? What are typical hp & ft/lbs gains? Any other info is appreciated. Thx in advance

I would think it would be the same. I don't know if one aftermarket DP will be better than another.

I'm biased as I'm already catless. Got the "ok I won't look".

The advantage of "catted" DPs is that you will pass emissions, and theoretically not get any CEL's. I assume, you may gain a bit less in power, vs catless DP's?

I tried a 200 cell on my X1 and it threw cat efficiency codes. Better off either going cat-less or just keeping it stock.

What brand catted DP did you have on your X1 ?

I'm using BCS 140mm catted DP for 1.5years + here in the UK and its superb. Bigger body means it gives away v little in terms of flow to cat-less DP, sounds superb, better throttle response, legal and copes with higher boost JB4 np. Whats not to like !

I had an ER, used it with both JB4 and Dinan. Neither tune helped much in terms of clearing the code, it would come back within 20kms. Ultimately, my reasoning for switching back to the factory cats.

Some engine computers don't care as much as others, my T-bird had no cats and never even threw a cat efficiency code, my Mustang threw a code but I coded the rear cats off and fixed the problem. My BMW didn't like it, and there was at the time, no real option for programming the computer to ignore emissions.
