M Performance build options
Why, oh why can't BMW do the following:
On ordered M cars allow the client to delete certain options like Porsche does. Requires a $10K non-refundable deposit, along with upcharges to put a specific car thru the line like this... Using the M2 as an example: Rear Seat Delete Manual LTW seats, wheel Stereo delete A/C delete Brakes ( 280MM vs 300's to allow 18" rim fitments and less unsprung weight) 18" vs 19 Rims, also wider options Lithium Battery Factory installed (not Port) Carbon Fiber pieces ie: hood, roof, trunk doors, flared fenders) Electronics(no rev match, lane change, BUC, PDC, TPMS, etc.) LTW exhaust I know individual colors can't be done on the 2 series assembly line, but some of this could be done! BMW tried the LTW option on the E36M3 and charged more $'s for it. It bombed! If its done by the consumer like above it would work, and BMW could make more Gross Profit as well. I proposed this to the BMW M Manager in 2005. 15 years later still no changes...
