Dashcam - battery pack

Anyone using a battery pack to power the dash cam? (Blackvue, cellink etc.)

I can't find any info on whether the battery pack has a built in system that stops charging from the 12v plug when the car is turned off.

If it keeps charging then the car's battery will eventually go flat. This kinda defeats the whole purpose of an extra battery...

I have the blackvue one. For some reason with the car off the battery is still being charged. I'm not sure if it'll stop if it's fully charged, I doubt it will since the lights on the pack stay on after being fully charged. I thought the 12V outlets wouldn't provide power when the car is off but they do unfortunately. I just unplug it after shutting the car down.

Yeah... this is what I feared

Long story short, the battery (if loaded) will just provide 8-9 hours of charge to the dashcam but will also be depleting the car's battery at the same time, correct?

Have you considered this (link below) to facilitate the process?

I think 12 hours depends on your parking mode setttings. Yeah the car will just keep charging the battery pack.

I was thinking about something like that but it'll just look funny so I just unplug it haha.

What about using the rear 12v plug? Easy way and somewhat hidden way of switching it on/off

I have an extra 12v plug under the glove box and am planning on connecting from there, are you using this port by any chance?

Yeah that'd work too to hide it.

No I just use the one in front of the shifter for now.

I have the Cellink B, I just wired it to a fuse that shuts off with the car.
