I didn't miss the point, I just don't like payments. Again, just my opinion. But if I were in the OP's shoes, I'd do the 0.9% deal and hang onto the cash. That's essentially free money.

+1, no matter how cash rich one is, would be foolish to not get the 0.9% rate as that is below inflation levels, so it's beyond free money. And that freed up cash can earn a far better return elsewhere (plus needless to say there is a positive element on your credit report showing continual and timely debt repayment).

Side story: I once had a tenant (founder/CEO of a successful company) who prepaid for a full year on the lease in cash. Had a relatively bad credit score because everything he bought was in cash - his cars (he had many), several houses across several states, including his recent yacht purchase. Never took a loan of any kind over the last 12+ years and ironically despite his solid financial standing his credit score wasn't as complementary...

Latest I saw was .00082 which is 1.968%. If you are eligible to do the MSD program then it drops down to .00047 which is 1.128%.

If you are not considering what return you are getting on your money you are foolish. All the richest people in the world look for a "Return on investment".

All the richest people in the world are concerned with money.

This is huge and may be a game-changer for those who are on the fence due to their financial resources. I always pay cash in full but it has me thinking.

Don't want to argue but being smart and a good Stewart of your resources is only wise.

No matter how much money and disposable income you have, using other people money for free is just smart.

You're not listening.

It's smart to watch what you eat, right?
It's smart to exercise properly, right?
It's smart to spend less than you earn and invest the difference, right?

Shall I go on?

But some people don't let these things control them. If you have enough money to buy a CS you could be in that group.

Sweep around your own door sir.

Okay, okay I give up! It's your life do as you please but no matter what, enjoy your new M2 CS! We do agree on that!

Cheers!

This is very true. There are surely CS buyers for whom any financial benefit of financing simply isn't a concern, or even a thought. Just as there are CS buyers who paid ADM and didn't think twice about it. The enthusiast portion of the market that hangs out here on BP is not representative of the entire buyer pool. Same thing is true for the GT3 and RS markets not being represented by the portion of the buyer pool that is active on Rennlist.

I understand that and yes, I am in that situation but it leaves me asking why? Money is not my God and I have never worked for it or been motivated by it but I do like to be smart with it and 0.9% of someone else's money is smart, especially since there is no advantage in not taking it.

Oh well, like I said, we all agree on one thing; M2 CS!

I'm in the same boat as you for sure, I was just answering the question as to why some would just pay cash. It's funny, I never though I was so money conscious until I got around those that just aren't, and then I see that I'm extremely money conscious.

The freedom these guys enjoy isn't even anything that I could learn at 50 years old, even if I were given a billion dollars tomorrow. They get to think about everything except money. I can't even imagine it.

And as a kid you always finished your plate too, out of respect for your parents, as part of a proper education, regardless family wealth.

And decades later, you pass that on to your offspring too.

OK, this is one of the more hilarious tangents I have seen on a forum thread . . . but I'll chime in.

I am always amazed that when I appear to be out of toothpaste and buy a new tube, the "empty" one lasts at least another week.

Adapting behavior: the fuel meter displaying a 0 mile range and no gas station nearby, alike a toilet paper roll nearing the very end with no spare roll around, and your eyes drifting in despair to that Cosmopolitan or Vogue reading materials of your wife...
