How do you plan on paying for your CS?

I've got cash ready but BMWFS "Apply online" shows the M2 CS and pulls 0.9% for 60 months. They also show a 36 month lease but no info on residual amount.

Maybe some of you guys that have taken delivery can tell us what you've seen offered?

At 0.9% I believe I'll take the 60 months and keep my cash!

I prefer to keep cash on hand when interest rates are so low. I don't know that you'll beat 0.9% for 60? There is no scenario where I'd lease an M2.

If you ignore leasing as a option you've never had a $80k car have $30k of front end damage and a terrible Carfax that was suddenly worth 2/3 it's value!

Leasing is a great way to have a third option(1.keep it, 2.sell it, 3. Give it back).

It takes a lot of damage these days to total a car and often times the repair doesn't fix all the issues, especially the diminished value!

This is where a lawyer comes in... I used to be very anti, but after my last go-round, it greatly changed my mind. Personal injury attorneys handle this even if you don't have any injuries to deal with. Deals with the diminished value etc all in one go. Especially on a special model like a CS etc.

From what I've seen posted here so far about the Lease options, I'm not so sure that it's even an option - if residual is really at 35%, or even at 50%, the lease payments and costs are huge in comparison to the finance options when I ran the calculations on it last time around.

I've been successful at getting diminished value money ($5,000) out of one of the worst carriers(do you really think you are in good hands?) without an attorney. Just takes a bit of work.

Besides, diminished value can still be collected on a leased car if you end up buying it. That may take an attorney!

Can you guys point me to where you see the 0.9% for the CS? My dealer points to this, which only has the M2C (and M4CS), but not M2CS

Go into the shopping section and do apply online. It has a pull down that shows 2020 M2 CS.

Thanks! I did just that a couple of weeks ago, designated my dealer (as it was a requirement), got a call within mins (literally) from the finance manager at the dealer, and when they realized I was not a new customer (but awaiting delivery for a pre-sold car for months now), their enthusiasm kinda waned and was told my SA will call me with more details... (still awaiting(

To add to the frustration, it caused my score to dip by 5 points as it showed a credit check by BMW (doesn't impact it in any way as it is still in the 800s but frustrating that I have not gotten anything back from the dealer). All while my car sits at the port since 10/27 with a 10/15 production date and no vessel has even been assigned...

True, but I've also never spent $30k on an $80k car with nothing to show for it in the end. I'd rather own...just a difference of opinion.

But of course you miss the point. The $39k you spend is the cost of actually driving the car those miles,

AND,

Hopefully the residual of the car is such that the $30k also represents roughly a $30k reduction in the purchase price.

I've bought well over 100 cars and leased roughly 25% of them and the worst case I paid roughly and extra $3k to buy that third option of handing it back to the dealership. Cheap insurance in my mind.

What's the difference between doing this online and handing the dealer the financial application?

Seems a bit silly. My investment portfolio has don't almost 10 times the return vs. that 0.9%. Even my 1M that I bought brand new can't even come close as an investment over the last 9 years.

Maybe I should have ask my question differently? Like anyone leasing vs. using 0.9%?

I would recommend finding out the lease terms before writing them off. They always advise you negotiate price before deciding on whether you finance or lease.

I am not in the market for a CS but am waiting to receive my M2C shortly. I decided to lease my car despite all the naysayers. The primary reason was that the money factor BMW was offering at the time plus MSD (need to be in the right states) allowed for an interest of like 1%. That was lower than the 1.9% financing rate being offered.

At the end of the day, the low interest on the lease undid the $925 lease acquisition fee and love the fact that I can return the car after 3 years if I want to. If I dont, the buy out is insanely low (~$31K).

My understanding is that the moneyfactor for BMWs is the same across all models, with no exceptions. The only true downside to leasing is if you plan on doing any modifications to the car.

True, the money factor right now equates to around 2% interest rate I read.

Even at 2%, I think I'd do a lease.
