Rear park sensors beeping out of reverse

This really grinds my gears... reversing up to something then taking it out of reverse into neutral and even back into drive and it still beeps in till you've switched the car off.

Any way to just have the beeps when its only in reverse ??

Guessing cars with front sensors too that have the mute button can do this but I've tried pushing every button to no success.

This is changed in later firmware .

Or you can install a panel with the Parking switch on it (requires a push of the button): https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1345311

I bought an LCI centre console and it came with that switch.

Had an extra pin in the connector compared to my car and believe it didn’t work so I binned it.

Just to be clear mines a pre LCI 2016.

Hmm... the center console did not have that button for the M2 LCI (at least in the US market). Now that I recall, you did need the reverse camera for the switch to be plug and play.

So for my 2017 OG M2 with Executive pkg (pre LCI), the switch was plug and play.

I agree this is incredibly annoying.

So you’ve a reversing camera ?

Collecting a car with my friend tomorrow that has that switch so will try again, but not holding out much hope.

Yes, at least for US models, 2017 needed Executive pkg to get the reverse camera. 2018 LCI (US) had the reverse camera standard.

Agreed it's maddening. It used to drive me nuts on my M2C. I felt like a fool when I finally realized there's a button on the center console to turn it off.

If you don't have the latest firmware it may be worth the update just for the steering improvements (especially if you can code via E-SYS)

Do an istep update, either at a dealer/coder. Will solve that issue and several more (such as the ASD being way to loud just to name one).

I tried tirelessly but there's something needed from the wiring of the back up camera to make the on/off sensor button work on the new control unit. Had to put mine back to stock and resell the control unit I'd purchased.

Think I’m stumped already

If pin 1 is missing, then this is the missing wire. You need to make yourself a wire (something like 50-60cm), then route the cable from the console switch cable plug pin 1 to ICM (located under the iDrive controller area) cable plug pin 28

This is not something new and actually how F20 / F30 retrofit the Front PDC option (exchanging the console switch is part of the Front PDC retrofit) and it totally makes sense that F87 follows the same. You can find the official BMW retrofit guide here on page 10 which explains the steps with diagrams how retrofitting console switch is done (and forget the rest).

Now I speak it more slowly, hope it doesn't make it awfully complicated to prevent you from trying I don't own a M2 so I can't verify it unfortunately.
Hope is not lost yet

Update for this as managed it from the info in other threads

Buy the missing cable needed from BMW for only £2.50 - part# 61130056960
Correct length & correct pins

Source a used switch panel with the mute button

Untitled by M2 ClubSport, on Flickr

The ICM is a bit of a mission to get to but for a £2.50 cable and circa £10/15 switch panel it so worth it to shut the beeping up.
