Coby Alcantara Steering wheel

Hi All, I am looking to replace my steering wheel for my 2017 M2. I found a company called Coby who sells alcantara steering wheels for BMWs.

They come in two colors: Grey or Black. They describe the grey as charcoal grey. Does anyone on here know which would match the oem M2 shift boot and door panels?

I asked the rep and he told me that it was on me to figure out which color matched. Was wondering if anyone on here has their product and knows which color matches?

Get the M2cs steering wheel. They're around $500 and I think it's a fantastic deal if you plan to go alcantara.

If you want it to match stock you need 9002 grey.

I have a re-trimmed steering wheel from Coby in 9002 and match is 99%.

Very helpful, thanks! Noticed you have a M2C. Are the alcantara colors in the OG M2 and M2C the same?

Excellent choice going with Coby Wheel. Very prompt and professional. I've been using him for over 15 years for all my interior restorations.

The M2 CS wheel is an excellent value, I have it currently installed in my M2.

That said, I just had my stock *heated* wheel covered by Colby in the grey 9002 alcantara, tri-color stitching, no center stripe for half the cost. I plan to install this wheel and sell my barely used M2 CS wheel because I want to maintain the heated functionality.

(Although I do agree that heat is not as important with alcantara wheels -- I used an unheated alcantara wheel in my previous BMW the last 8 years).

Can you do a comparison of the alcantara quality? I got my M2CS wheel as well and the quality is very good. Usually with retrimmed steering wheel you'll find creases or less paddings.

Mike is a cool dude. You'll love his work.

Not to threadjack but does anyone know where I could get my mperf v2 alcantara changed to perforated leather? Coby can't do it

I plan to compare them before I switch wheels. There is no additional padding on the Coby wheel, the Alcantara is just wrapped over the stock leather wheel (which I felt already had a bunch of padding).

The M2 CS wheel is pretty thick (some love it some hate it), so I suspect this wheel will be the same or marginally smaller. I plan to measure.

I had a oem wheel for my M4 done by Coby Wheel and the quality was good, and held up well for the 12000 or so miles I used it. Thickness was comparable to the stock leather wheel because my understanding is that he sands down the leather before wrapping it. You can see faint lines under the alcantara where two pieces of leather are stitched together at the 10 and 2 positions, but nothing distracting. The best thing about wrapping it vs getting the m performance wheel is that the steering wheel heater remains functional (for cars with heated wheels) and works quite well.

Try Sweidit on FB or IG. He does very good work and charges $380 per wheel. Cheers

I don't know if prices went up from three years ago but Coby wheel was a lot cheaper.

I measured the M2 CS wheel (which is definitely fat, the only complaint in some M2 CS reviews) and it's 12.4 cm round, compared to my Coby which is 11.9 cm (I don't have a stock wheel to measure). I pulled the tape measure tight to minimize the alcantara. Both wheels seem similar in look, color, stitching, and quality of alcantara.

It's interesting that you mention faint lines under the alcantara of your Coby the from the stock leather seams at 10 and 2 because my Coby wheel has the seams at 10 and 2 so there is nothing to "show through". Perhaps because I don't have a center stripe, but note, the M2 CS wheel also has seams at 10 and 2.
