I loved the car too, and I loved the engine. Coming from an STI with the garbage ej257, the fa20 was awesome! It was so much more durable, and with the super charger it was a pleasure to drive.

Ferodos are better, ds1.11 or ds3.12 are significantly better at high temperature fade resistance and durability. Pagids used to be the best but current track reports (alot of m4 guys) from what I am seeing are showing with the stock blue brakes ferodos are much better.

My pad experience with the M2:
RS29 < PFC 08 < DS UNO < DS1.11 < PFC 11 < DS3.12 Absolutely hated the RS29. Terrible pedal feel compared to the other listed pads and fell apart at high temps. |

As an occasional daily, the DS2500 are fine and rarely squeal.

I've only tracked my M2 a few times and the only pad I've tried are the Pagid rsl29's. I don't have a ton of experience and I'm certainly not a track hero, so take this for what its worth. I've pushed the car hard enough to know I need a new intercooler and I don't love the Toyo R888r's, but I haven't had any issue with the brakes. With stainless brake lines and appropriate brake fluid, I found the brakes to be very strong.
I have been impressed with how durable the pads are and surprised by how little they squeal when driving on the street when I haven't had time to change them for a week or two after a track session. I'll probably try a different pad in the future just to see if there is something better out there, but I have no problem recommending the pagids. |

The R888R is probably the worst track tire out there. It’s hardly grippier than the PS4S, so you’re definitely not maximizing the M2’s braking (or handling, or acceleration) capability via better tires. Throw some good tires on and really start working the brakes, and those Pagid’s are gonna cry for mercy. My RS29's cried for mercy (and cracked) when my car was stock and I was burning up the 3-month old PSS's that came on it, but that was also a 140mph to 45mph braking zone. PS. I’ve also seen three 911s blow out side walls on rear R888Rs with two almost going into the wall at high speed. Thank goodness they were some very experienced drivers that I roll with and didn’t try to overcorrect. Last edited by ZM2; 07-23-2021 at 05:03 PM.. |

As a matter of fact, I'm remembering now that I cracked a front DS2500 at WGI once. There was snow on the track that morning, so I left my 4S's and DS2500s on and about an hour into the track being open a dry line formed before the bus stop that obviously I'm gonna stay in, vs choosing the snow, and it only took about 5 laps of that braking zone to kill the DS2500. That's a tough braking zone on pads, but I also wasn't pushing as hard as normal to ensure I stayed out of the snow (and wall)! Heck, per richard in NC I’ve gotten pad fade on DS1.11 at CMP. But, that was after 20min of running back to back 1:46s there, and I could get the pad to come back if I went easy for half a lap. DS3.12 held up perfect, altho, I haven’t been back to CMP with my new Stg 2+ E50 setup that’s pushing serious power for the track, so we’ll see if I can make the 3.12 cry with some back to back 1:44s…? Hah, we’ll see! Last edited by ZM2; 07-23-2021 at 03:33 PM.. |
