How much can I sell the secondary cats on my M2C midpipe for?

I recently just sold my M2C with an AA single midpipe installed and am now left with an OEM midpipe with the two secondary cats and the resonator. I’ve seen the actual midpipe go for only around 300 bucks so I’m seeing if taking my midpipe to a junkyard to sell the resonator and cats would net me more money.

Has anyone ever sold their m2c secondary cats before and how much did you receive for them?

Try looking on ebay or craigslist, as well as BMW forums. Not a bad idea to ask around at autowreckers, because the cats might be worth more than that based on the metal alone. If the mileage is low, someone might be interested in them for replacement.

I bought a whole mid section and rear backbox for £1 on ebay... cost me £60 for shipping though.

Wow, you just picked up your M2C about a year ago, yeah? That was a quick dance with the F87. I hope you’re onward to new and great automotive adventures!

Maybe he just wanted to get rid of it fast or it was stolen... or both

Yeah I had plans to keep it longer (like everyone does when they get a new car) but in my excitement, I was blind to a lot of things that I honestly should have negociated on for the car and should have honestly not been afraid to walk away. I don't regret getting the M2C, I just regret not being more patient and finding a better deal and a cleaner car.

And there was some warranty issue that had my car stay in service for a month and a bunch of other small things that killed my motivation to keep the car and build it.

No reserve and I was the only bidder. Lucky for me...

Same with any used parts, if nobody wants them they are worthless.

I haven't tried it, but I've heard that the bigger salvage yards will pay for parts if there is a market; might just be for things that there is an open RQ for on their computer system but perhaps worth a few phone calls.

In AZ they are almost a regulated item due to huge thefts around here. No recyclers would touch one I had. If you sell it will most likely go to an illegal seller.

Has anyone ever sold their m2c secondary cats before and how much did you receive for them?
I looked into this recently, the secondary cats are called “wire” or “foil” cats. They’re not worth as much as the primary ones because of the metals quality in them. They’re 3 pounds each and the place I sold to pays $15 a pound for wires so totals less than 100 bucks for them. Not sure how it is in your state but where I am all they require to be able to sell them is your ID and proof of ownership so like a title or registration or something. Hope that helps

I ended up getting rid of it for super cheap to a local buyer, it was either that or calling every scrapyard in my area for quotes and telling them that they weren't stolen and I had proof
